2 big surprises for me.
1. How many products were out there when we started Black Tie Razor Company
2. That I would personally spend almost $200 on a razor. The Rex Ambassador.

Not to derail the thread, but give me a link to you soap. I told you MONTHS ago I would try it and never did. Not that I need anymore soap, but hell I haven't bought anything in months either so I'll give it a go.

Same here. I was expecting my shaves to be better, maybe. Enjoying my morning shave so much was an unexpected and very welcome benefit.

Running a close second is huge variety of equipment available now. There are so many great razors, blades, brushes, soaps and creams now. Ten years ago, it was Dovo (and Simpsons if you were lucky) brushes, a few Merkur and Parker razors, several different blades, Col. Conk and Em's soaps, and whatever aftershave was at the corner drugstore. Oh yeah, and Crabtree & Evelyn. There was very little else. Now there is tons of gear at every price point, and the overall quality level is substantially higher. The tipping point for this was around 2009, if I recall correctly.
