What is everyone reading at the moment?

I used to commute for 14 yrs to Fairfax Va from WV - and on Rt 50 in Middleburg I would pass by the Red Fox Tavern ...... which the characters in the Hope would meet in the story - kind of helped pull me in!
Another favorite are the John D McDonald Travis McGee novels (some would deem lowbrow) but I love them - like mind candy! I wouldn't mind sailing around on the "Busted Flush" involved in all the intrigue ...... and always in the process getting the beautiful woman!

I just finished:

Soldier of Rome: The Legionary (The Artorian Chronicles Book 1)

This is a book that follows the life of Artorian - a Roman citizen that joins the Legion to avenge his brother's death. Fictional soldier but all of the battles, the leaders, and movements of the Legion are historical.

After many years, rereading this terrific historical novel.

Just finished. Different type of murder mystery. Good read.

I'm not much of a reader at all, but can't seem to put this one down.

It helps that I love to BBQ and smoke meat.

Two thumbs up for Franklin's book. Best book I've found on the topic as it contains insight. Most of the others are glorified cookbooks.

The best book I have read in the last few months is The Martian by Andy Weir.  It is, for lack of a better term, realistic science fiction.  I could not put it down. Finding himself alone on Mars after an aborted mission from Earth, a man does all he can to survive.  His intelligence is topped only by his very human mistakes and humor.

The Martian was the third book that i couldn't put down and read in a single sitting. The first was Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card back in the 80s, and Star Wars: Darth Bane: Path of Destruction about 5 years ago.

I am a huge fan of Carlos Ruiz Zafon's books. This Young Adult story kept me involved from beginning to end. Marina is one of several books by this author. I highly recommend his first book written for adults, The Shadow of the Wind. It is one of those stories that takes one in and holds the reader until the very end.

I'm stalling a bit on We. It's a good book, but dry. I may set it aside for a bit and read something else, then finish up.

Finished Rhesus Chart. It was enjoyable and amusing, but a bit disappointing compared to the previous two books. My full review
