What fragrance are you wearing today?

Bois d'encens (Armani Privé) pine, lemon, pepper, frankincense

At first this smells a lot like Blenheim Bouquet, but with frankincense supporting the black pepper. The materials are fantastic – smooth, rich, and luxurious – and that's reflected in the price. A full bottle's out of range, so I'm nursing a small decant. In spite of the name, it's not at all smoky. In fact, it strikes me a one of the cleanest interpretations of incense. I wish I could come home each night to a house smelling like this.

Hermès Terre d'Hermès Eau de Toilette

Kiste (Slumberhouse) peach jam, dry grass, cinnamon roses, wax

Peach jam cooking on the stove while the lawn burns up under the late summer sun. Somebody's been good enough to cut the roses and bring them in out of the heat. Like all the other Slumberhouse scents I've sampled, Kiste has a waxy note that gives everything a nostalgic soft focus.
