What is a really good sandalwood frag that matches up well with AOS Sandalwood Cream?

I love The AOS sandalwood scent but I hate having creams that I can't match anything to. I know AOS and fine make an aftershave to match, but I'm looking for some serious sandalwood longevity fragrance. I like D R Harris a lot, but the aftershave doesn't come near the scent of AOS.

What are you guys using?!

A sandalwood scent that I have been loving recently is Serge Lutens Santal Majuscule. It's dark, refined and just a really beautiful scent all around. Diptyque Tam Dao is also another fantastic sandalwood frag, but maybe a bit more creamy and powdery than the AOS scent if I remember correctly.

I almost pulled the trigger on Tam Dao but too many reviews said it was cedarwood heavy if I recall. I will check out Serge Lutens. Thinking about just buying the older formulation AOS Sandalwood Edt even though it's supposedly pretty hardcore on the eucalyptus in the beginning.

I feel Sandalwood makes my life a lot harder. there are too many different products and variations and it can be very overwhelming.

The older AoS EdT is heavy on the eucalyptus initially but IMO it mellows and then smells very much like the shave cream for the next 4-5 hours.

Have you tried the "New" Sandalwood & Cypress edc by AoS? I sampled it at one of their retail store and it shared many of the same notes as the older formula...

As long as it smells like the shaving cream in the end, that's all that matters to me!

I have not tried the new formula, but from reviews I've read, they say it doesn't last long. It's a shame to fall in love with the old formula however, and then not be able to get your hands on any in the very near future.

I find that the cedar is much more present in the EdP, but I get more of a regular sandalwood vibe from the EdT as far as my personal experience is concerned.

FWIW, I was disappointed with every one of the new AOS colognes. Very faux smelling.

IMO, the most realistic sandalwood scent is Meehan's.
