Thanks for starting this thread TSEvangelist I think we'll get some interesting discussion  - like the Ikon SC Tech discussion.  I've been tempted on many an occasion to click buy on that baby but then the words "possibly the most aggressive razor on the market today" echo in my ears and I pull back.  Judging from what I'm reading here I'm wise to resist.  I picked up the ikon SC Short Comb on the glowing recommendation of Leisureguy and its a very efficient, aggressive razor and the Tech is considered to be more aggressive than that which means I won't be picking up a Tech Smile YMMV as they say.

My list:

1. Wolfman
2. Feather AS-D2
3. RazoRock Black Mamba
4. Ikon SC #102 Slant
5. ATT Atlas M2

I think there is excellent value in razors available in the marketplace considering the quality and workmanship represented in these razors.  I think its hard to spend a truly outrageous sum of money on a single razor, at least a DE razor.  Even the Wolfman is just over a couple hundred bucks and all things considered, thats pretty good value (obviously getting one is an issue).

I may be amending my list in the next week or two once I receive my refurbished Fatboy and Aristocrat and have a chance to try them out.

In no particular order:

STAR DE
Ever-Ready 1907 Lather Catcher
iKon Shavecraft 101
Gillette NEW (both short and long comb)
Schick Injector Adjustable (M2 model, I believe)

This is tough, Chris, because I had to leave some favorites off the list. Also, a particular blade can change the variable so that said blade might push a razor onto or off the list for me. In any event, it was fun to think about this. Of course, you do realize that my top five may change five minutes from now. Winking

Nice. I'm surprised the Streamline hasn't come up yet.

Wolfman
OneBlade
NEW SC
ATT S2
Schick I-2 Hydromagic

I have a Feather AS-D2 en route, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it leapt onto the list, likely knocking the injector out.

If you don't mind mild and a narrow angle of attack, the feather is a wonderful razor.

Indeed what attracted me to it, apart from the build quality, is the idea of a mild-yet-efficient razor; I'm finding that my coarse whiskers and seemingly thin skin do well with that combination (for instance, I do better with very sharp, rigid blades, but so far not as well with aggressive razors).

In my opinion, it is the best-looking SE razor that I have ever seen and I would love to use and photograph it, but, unfortunately, I don't get on with those darn SE blades. Blush

Oh no, the Clogpruf has fallen from graceSmile

I was simply going with the most expensive razors I've ever had the opportunity to use.

My personal top 5 would be different.

  1. OneBlade
  2. Mongoose
  3. AlumiGoose
  4. GEM Micromatic Clog Pruf
  5. EverReady 1914, Little Lather Catcher
