Country Club for Men Classic Fougère, a sort of dark and "muddy" fougère. It burned moderately, then its menthol kicked in and provided nice follow-up cooling.

Roger & Gallet L'Homme aftershave. The fragrance seemed surprisingly weak. I'll give it at least a couple more tries before thinking about being disappointed.

That's interesting, John.  I know you have difficulty wearing many EdTs and so use aftershaves, instead.  Just as a comparison, though, I have the Roger & Gallet L'Homme EdT (same bottle so same vintage, I assume) and the scent is quite strong.  I have been using the EdT since it first came out, about 34 years ago, and have never thought of this scent as the shy retiring type.  I realize we are talking aftershave vs. EdT but I should think the scent would be the same, if not the longevity.

Dolce & Gabbana aftershave, a floral splash that has been described as dry but which to my nose is relatively sweet.
