What’s your Fav Scotch for Holiday Season?

My personal Fav is Dalmore 12 Yrs this is my must for Holiday Season that I personally Enjoy

I need to find another. For decades my wife would get me a bottle of Chivas Regal, but either they changed their blend (or the blender) or my tastebuds have changed and it's just not as good as in years past.

This is true and completely understand where your coming from but still quality and taste shouldn’t change even tho if companies would change owners /shareholders etc…

So far I have payed attention to the one I have been good so far but never know these these days hope things will remain as they should for it’s receipe and quality.

:-) Maybe the gent doing the blending of my fav' had covid that day and couldn't taste what he was doing. Maybe.

There are others that I like but if I remember correctly they need to be specially ordered. I just need to look over the list and do it for New Years Eve.

Lagavulin 16 has been my Scotch of choice for the last 5 or 6 years. Got a little hard to find during COVID but supply seems to have improved a lot over the last six to eight months. Other bottles that frequent the bar recently are Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 10 Yr Peated and The Balvenie Week of Peat 14.

My wife was a Macallan 12 drinker for years but switched to Dinwinnie 15 during out last bike ride through Scotland

Lagavulin 16  has been my Scotch of choice for the last 5 or 6 years.  Got a little hard to find during COVID but supply seems to have improved a lot over the last six to eight months.  Other bottles that frequent the bar recently are Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 10 Yr Peated and The Balvenie Week of Peat 14.

Never tried neither of the whiskeys you mentioned but I’m sure they are great and smooth to drink at least sounds that’s way lol, Dinwinnie 15 never heard of but will check it out

I agree for the most part with you Alan especially with the bigger brands that may have already implemented changes years ago but not much stays the same in life unfortunately at times the Whiskey world is no different. I've bought and stored a few bottles over the year by no means an expert but things constantly change in this hobby. Just a few that I can think of the barrels, the barley and with a change of ownership they may install a new blender or add more additives like caramel. I have one that I will post later that I've always loved at one point they Chill Filtered there Whiskey like most distilleries and now is thankfully moved away from that practice.

Great idea for a thread. DFS is a small group but maybe we should have a what are you drinking to tonight thread. If he partakes maybe Dave in Kentucky or others stateside can show us a Bourbon or two.

If I'm not mistaken I think it may be Dalwhinnie he was referencing. It's way up in the Highlands saw it TV recently Bill Nighy narrating The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys. It's the last stop on one of the Highland lines.
