Hi everyone, I was wondering what your opinions are of the Gillette Rocket HD500.
I have seen one on eBay for £50 (about 65 dollars) in quite good condition, but I don't know alot about this razor or if its worth the price. Any input about this razor would be great guys. Thanks

I only use vintage gillette's now. Ive sold off all my other razors.
My daily razor is a gillette 1951 super speed and it gives me the best shave. I would go for it,.....you wont be sorry.
Excellent razor

A few years back I bought one just like this from a gent in Luxembourg and really didn't know anything about it. Paid about the same amount for it. It took me a while to realize what an outstanding razor it is. It's heavy and solid. I've used almost every model of Gillette and the HD500 is the very best of the group in terms of performance. Hard to find. I think you should buy it. These are excellent razors.
Best Regards,

The Rocket is one of the best adjustables Gillette ever made, and the HD500 is the best of those, IMHO. Great razors!

Buy it before some one reading this does.

I had three different Rocket "flare tips" and I could tell no difference in how they shaved from a U.S. "flare tip". Because the Rocket models are rare in the U.S. collector prices are out of sight. I have shaved with post-war Aristocrats, and Super-Speed razors from the 40's & 50's and IMO they almost all invariably shave the same for the most part, i.e., an excellent medium aggressive shave. I sold most and now use a Tech more often as it gives me the same shave and is less bulky, more maneuverable & easier to clean. YMMV.
Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

Shaven in the Past
Well worth the price. One of the best Gillette DE's ever. Nice heft and balance and very smooth. It's one of my best shavers right next to my NEW SC and Rocket Blue Tip.

You really can't go wrong with the British Gillettes - the TTO action is buttery smooth. My HD500 and #15 Aristocrat are my favorite two razors in my collection for looks and performance. Smooth and efficient.
