Vin Scully

It was great to see Vin Scully, who will be 90 years old next month, "throwing" the ceremonial first pitch for tonight's baseball World Series game. What a great announcer he was, for 67 years, with the Dodgers. I listened on my transistor radio to him and Jerry Doggett broadcasting the games when I was a kid growing up in Southern California.

I remember him when I lived in NYC and was a Yankee fan. The rivalry between the Giants and Dodgers was incredible. Back then the Dodgers were called "The Flock" or "The Bums." He always did an outstanding job. Unlike the current group, he made the game important - not himself. He provided color - not endless statistics.

Exactly. Plus his delivery and turns of phrase were so very smooth. I too remember those great rivalry days.
