Howdy folks! I am very happy to now be a member here at DFS and also very happy to share the passion for all things shaving with the great group here!

Quick background: I have been a wet shaver for 10 years and have also been a hobbyist soap maker for nearly that entire period. Shaving soap has always been an obsession of mine, although I never had quite developed a recipe I was happy with. With some renewed enthusiasm, I put extra R&D efforts into getting the soap right this last winter/spring, and decided to make an artisan venture out of the deal and share my soap/aftershave/cosmetic endeavors with the great wet shaving community.

I currently offer tallow-based & vegan shaving and body soaps along with aftershave balm and splash (and beard oil - though I suppose few will care about that here!). I have some offerings that are all fragrance oils, some all essential oils, some blends, and all are clearly defined on my site if you are concerned with that. I do plan to focus more on essential oil soaps in the future, so keep an eye on new releases of those types of scents.

I do not currently offer all soap scents in aftershaves. I have most of them available in balm, and will try to get the rest set up in that realm as well, but with the splashes, not all the oils play well with alcohol-based aftershave, so not all of them will be available. Plus, I'm trying to keep the number of SKUs reasonable.

I think you will find our soap capable of easily lather production that will provide slickness, cushion, and great aftershave feel. I have been through only 1 formula change, and that was simply to harden the soap a bit to make it easier to load in the containers. The actual formula and ratio of fats & butters has remained the same.

My philosophy on scent strength is that it shouldn't be too 'in your face,' so keep that in mind as I prefer scents more on the subtle side.

I am always happy to talk shaving & cosmetic goods, take any suggestions, comments, concerns, or questions anyone has, so please don't be shy!

Lastly, I am in the process of refining some recipes for liquid face & hand soap, shampoo, and conditioner, which I hope to make available on the site here before long.

I was going to ask if you were from Iceland. After reading your site, it looks like you're in Iowa.

Otherwise known as 'Iceland' from December - March. Iceland is the name for my heavily mentholated shaving soap.

I am a 2nd generation American, both sides of my family are pretty much exclusively Scandinavian - mostly Danish. Lots of Danes settled in Iowa during the later 1800s and early 1900s, that's how my family ended up here. Had a bunch of friends in college who used to refer to me as the 'Cornfed Viking,' so the shortened version of that plus the family heritage is where the name for the company came from. Smile

Awesome! Love your vegan Soap and hope to order a tallow version or two in the nearby future. Awesome performance, in case anyone needs to know. I'm sure the tallow is great as well (I so prefer tallow soaps). If you are curious about picking some up, I cannot suggest them enough.

If anyone is interested, I still have 3 tubs of my 'old' formula available. I ended up putting the soap into larger, ~10oz containers (cheap dollar store ones) and would like to try and get rid of them if possible. I've already sold several of them, and of the three I have left, 2 are Old Norse, and 1 is a combination of Tree of Life & Ironside (actually smells pretty good), but these are the very soft first formula I used back in March. Still work great, and I'm willing to let them go for $8 per (plus shipping). Let me know here or via PM if you are interested.
