The new Semogue Galahad C3 and 830 Hereditas premium boar are superb shaving brushes and a great alternative to the iconic 1305 one in case that you don't want a wooden handle.

For their prices , brilliant alternatives not only to the 1305 , but to other more expensive badger hair brushes.

A decade on and Vintage scent is still my favorite place for semogue boars!

I just happened to place an order for 10 boars and 1 horse last month.

It's been my place to get Semogue brushes since 2009 , my friend.

10 brushes ? Which ones did you get ?

Yah, I consider Bruno/vintage scent the original and next place to get semogue brushes!

I got 830, SOC cherry, C5 premium, 820, 610, 1470, 620 x 2, 1800 x 3 and pharos horse with green handle.

So it's actually 12 brushes total. Most are for giving as gifts. The 830, SOC, C5, 820 and pharos are for me.

Have you used the pharos c3 horse hair brush?
I took a gamble but I suspect it'll be too scritchy to use.

I liked the SOC boar a lot but enjoyed the 830 more than any other boar. I never had success with the 610 and I attribute that to the lack of loft height. Nice video Teiste, it was interesting to hear your comparison to these brushes to feeling like 2 band. I thought that was an interesting description. Cheers for the comparison video, Semogue makes some great brushes.

This may not be useful because I did not buy that brush but I have a couple of Vie Long horse hair brushes and they’re nice and soft, not scritchy at all. Maybe even too soft. That may be the reason for hybrid horse - badger bristle brushes to add some backbone to the horse.

I am hoping the tips are not scritchy because I don't like any scritch.

If it has soft tips them in sure I'll enjoy the variety of a horse hair brush.
