do any exist that are good quality?  I shave my head and typically just rub a puck of shaving soap over my head and work up a lather with my hands.  I want to experiment with some vegan soaps to see if the tallow soap (old haslinger pucks) I've been using is causing me some troubles.

I second SV. I was truly amazed with slickness and post shave when I had first tried it. I use 40th anniversary and love it

I believe the new formulation of Haslinger is supposedly vegetable-based and quite good, although the puck is only 2oz, compared to most standard-sized 4oz pucks. Nonetheless, it is very affordable.

As one soap maker told me it's far better to say "non-tallow" than vegan as many so called "veggie" soaps have some animal product therein. That does not bother me, but some are rather militant about not having any animal products in their soaps. Just an FYI.
Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.

I was thinking the same thing. New formula is worth trying if you're looking for Vegan. Also, I'm a big fan of Saponificio Varesino and recommend it strongly.
