I bought my first lathe a couple weeks ago and turned a couple brush handles for some extra knots I had on hand. The silvertip is a 24mm Vig Shaving and the synthetic is a 30mm Plisson type knot I sourced from China. I didn't set the synthetic yet because I have another wood I want to turn for it. I was just practicing on the two, but set the silvertip because it was my first handle I made. The wood is cedar, both from the same blank. I used boiled linseed oil and CA Glue for the finish.

I am moving on to bowls and pepper mills next. The brush handles and bottle stoppers are pretty fun to make but I want to turn large items as well. This is an addictive hobby already and I love it.

Lol. Yeah I've been spending a lot of time in the garage and online looking for new turning tools. I've been checking in here but not as active as I like.

Bowls and pepper mills, huh? You are becoming a one-stop shop for all lathe-created things. But what about them soaps…  Winking

I know right. One thing at a time my wife says. Maybe I should listen to her.

I should be around more often now. The other thing that's kept me busy is my wife has been in and out of the hospital, and right now she is back in, so I'm hanging out with her. She has surgery tomorrow and then hopefully a nice recovery back to normal.

Yes, focus does usually produce better results than being all over the place. But I’m telling you, that soap is really something…

Very sorry to hear about your wife. Hoping that all goes well tomorrow and from there on out.
