What did you replace it with?

I got the quarter moon and it was a good knot but not my favorite. Have you tried the timberwolf, it is a wonderful knot. The cashmere knot is awesome too. Also have a WW black wolf knot that is great.

I have a timberwolf on a Rick Montalvo brush, and I HATE it Lol. It's like a mop.
I don't see cashmere on his etsy page.

If you hate the timberwolf then you will not like the cashmere.

Did you get the Timberwolf knot from Milton? I have one and the last thing I would call it is floppy!! It's the most dense knot I've ever used and the tips are pillow soft. I'd say its my favorite overall as it just feels like a luxury lathering experience. I also have the Angel Hair knot from Milton that he also calls Cashmere but I've also had an actual Cashmere from APShaveCo and they are nothing alike. Maybe its due to Milton's being a fan type but the loft on the knot is also taller which make them a night and day comparison. Mine may be considered to some as being floppy but not out of control sloppy and feels very boar like to me as I used boar knots for quite a while years ago. The knot I have from him that picks up lather the best off the puck and lathers my face the best though is the Quartermoon but it has more backbone than the Timberwolf or the Angel Hair and I feel that is why it makes the best lather...

No I didn't, I got the handle from Rick Montalvo and the knot from Peter at wolf whiskers. It's a 25x52mm knot, and it's still too floppy for my tastes.
How do you like Milton's tuxedo? I'm leaning heavily towards that. Are they like yaqi's tuxedo?

I have three of Milton's brushes.

One has a 24mm Boss knot. It is a very soft knot, but does not have all that much backbone. It splays easily. It does have some scrub, but no scritch.  I like it better for lathering soft soaps and creams.  When it was new, the black dye tended to bleed. While most synthetic knots do not need to be washed like natural hair knots, the boss knot needed several washings to get rid of the excess dye. It was not a serious issue, but I mention it so you won't be surprised if the knot turns changes the color of  your lather when new.

Another has a 26mm SilverSynth. This knot is still soft, but has a higher degree of backbone than the Boss. I really like the 26mm diameter.

The third has a 26mm Tuxedo knot. This not is not quite as soft as the SilverSynth, but has slightly more backbone.  It is a very versatile brush, useful for everything from creams to hard pucks.  I evaluate a lot of new soaps. This is the brush I use when lathering a soap for the first time. Once I know how a new soap  performs, I might use another type of brush (badger, boar or horsehair) for subsequent lathers.

My Timberwolf is a 26x58mm and I'll be honest, I think its actually too dense sometimes when I'm using it and I think that and being a fan knot is the reason its not floppy at all. The tuxedo knot I have is actually the Quartermoon knot which is softer and has much less backbone than your more traditional tuxedo knots. Its a fan knot also... I've never used a Yaqi, from Yaqi themselves, but I've used knots from APShaveCo that were made by Yaqi but to different specs than what Yaqi sells in their handles. Word is that a few of Milton's earlier knots were mfg'd by Yaqi as well but very much like APShaveCo, the knots were all custom and made to different specs from standard Yaqi's...

I am about 99% sure the boss knot is the same as the gamechanger knot and noir plissoft knot that razorock uses. If that is the case, I used a RazoRock 400 noir Plissoft for a year and I found it amazing compared to the natural hair brushes I used. You can search those additional knot names and try to find other info. After some experience in synthetics, I found the noir plissoft having slightly more backbone and scrubbiness than the regular plissoft.

I have a TurnNShave Timberwolf and Angel hair. I feel I am in the minority here but I don't find any of them floppy. They are very easy to splay but no where near as floppy as the the Semogue 610 that I had. The Semogue just collapsed and I was literally lathering with the glue bump without much effort with bristles completely at 90 degrees flared out. The angel hair feels easier to splay than the timberwolf because the timberwolf is super dense but I could be imagining it. If you don't like the Timberwolf, I am not sure you would like the Angel hair or Cashmere.

I haven't tried them but I have read the TurnNShave quartermoon and APshave synbad both have more backbone. The boss knot would also work if you didn't need super soft tips.

I'm almost certain that I'm going to go with a 26mm quarter moon set to a 53mm loft, maybe even 52mm.
Thanks guys

I'm in that minority with you on not finding the Timberwolf or the Angel hair floppy at all and I set all of mine about 3-5mm higher than what Milton sets his at. I would agree with you that the Quartermoon has more backbone but in comparison it lathered much better than the SynBad knot did. The Timberwolf was the last knot I purchased and once I had the 3 TurnNShave knots in my rotation, everything else except my older synthetic from Whipped Dog made the BST and were properly sold off as nothing compared to what these knots give me. It's made my rotation very diverse between the 3 and I am very content with what I have now...

I tested my Angel hair at many heights and settled on approx 58.5 to 59mm which I think is much higher than what Milton puts it at! My spacers were 1.6mm a piece so I only had so much precision to work with. Loving it so far!
