Never had much luck with the KAI. For me they weren't as smooth. I do like the Med Preps but nothing so far comes even close to my experience with the 7OC Blue... Sad

1) Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (Russian blue wrapper)
2) Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (Indian black wrapper)
3) Voskhod
4) Polsilver Super Iridium
5) Gillette Silver Blue

Never used that one and here I had thought I had tried all of the gillettes.

They're quite amazing, and sadly they're also discontinued. I don't mean to shill my own stock but I have them available on my site if you're ever interested.
Ok you got me...I ordered 5 packs of them just now.  I figured if I don't like them I can PIF'm

Thanks Brian. I think you'll be happy with them. Be sure to post what you think, good or bad!

It's a pretty safe bet I think.  Every blade that has been recommended to me minus maybe 2 (KAI and Crystals) did just fine and are in my rotation regardless if they make the top 5; and worse comes to worse (I just can't stand them) I will PIF'em to someone in this thread.

I know its probably taboo to quote yourself in a forum but I have been accused of worse.  I did have a thought as I placed my last post, I haven't seen very many people mention Crystal Blades in this thread which is interesting as when I first started shaving a couple of people recommended them and a Wet Shaving Personality that shall remain nameless, cough TSEvangelist, had them in his top 5 last year.  Are they hard to get, not widely known, or just not that good?  I personally used a couple and didn't think they where anything to rave about regardless of price.

I never cared for the Crystals. Never got a really comfortable shave with them no matter which razor I used. So I don't get drawn and quartered for saying that, just remember that YMMV. Big Grin

In no particular order:

Feather
Perma-Sharp Super
PolSilver SI
Gillette 7 O'Clock Black
Voskhod
#38

Razor Hunter
USA
1. Voskhod (smooth all around great blade)
2. Feather (sharp great for when I missed a few days shaving)
3. Personna (red, lab, blue, whichever they are all great)
4. Gillette Silver Blue (just hate the glue on the wrapper that sticks to the blade and razor!!)
5. Dorco 301 (Cheap as dirt and still a smooth blade)

My No. 1 choice is a tie between the Gillette Platinum (modern Russian) and their Rubie Platinum Plus. I do however suspect they are the same blade and only the name changed for different markets. I would say the No. 2 spot is a tie as well between the Gillette Super Stainless (Green box Russian), 7 O'clock Sharp Edge, the Nacet Stainless, their regular Stainless (Russian & available only overseas) & Silver Blue. These are all "Tier 1" one blades and never fail to give storybook shaves. As well, any modern Personna blade, e.g., Israeli Red, etc., are superb.

There are too many other good blades for me to list for successive spots as I try to use mainly what I feel are the best.

Here's the aforementioned Gillette regular Stainless available overseas from one Israeli vendor. It's probably the sharpest Gillette blade I've used:

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.
