Its like the shaving Gods are conspiring to limit my acquisitions of product.  Big Grin  I've been patiently waiting for GD to release product and Mo had said that IB was getting some which is great for me from a shipping cost perspective.  I've been watching and waiting patiently.  So I leave town for the annual family holiday to a quiet location with very limited cell coverage and what happens? Well, Joe gets his shipment and its all sold out (except for Etereo) by the time I check his site once I got home.  And to add to that, I look at Instagram when I get home and Scott at Declaration Grooming has had a surprise release of B Cubed soap and splash which is Blackberry Blossom Bay.  Good news I was able to order a B Cubed soap but the splash was sold out.  That didn't really matter to me because the splash is alcohol based and DG won't ship it to Canada.  I've put an inquiry in to Scott on IG asking if he has any plans to supply any B Cubed to Top Of The Chain.  Hope so but we'll see.

Its not all gloom though, BBB in Milk Steak will be awesome.  I've been rationing the one tub of original release BBB DG/CL soap for a while now and I guess I'm free to finish that one up.  I also have plenty of original and second release CL BBB splash and Toner but I'm curious how the current version compares.  Scott mentioned in one of his live feeds that it has evolved in step with Shawn's own evolution.  Hopefully I'll get a chance to compare splashes at some point because the scent always comes through purer to the creators' vision in the spalsh than the soap.

I love Chatillon Lux BBB aftershave, and have been rationing my two bottles for several years. Yesterday morning I bought two bottles of Declaration B Cubed. It will be interesting to compare the two.

Please post your thoughts here as I'm interested to hear how you think it compares.

It’s just Blackberry Blossom. There’s no Bay.

Wouldn’t that just be B Squared?  Have you sampled it?  The absence of the bay would be more than an “evolution “ of the scent.

"Blackberry Blossom" is a bluegrass song to which the Chatillon Lux pays tribute. BBB is a bay-based scent, though not a traditional bay rum. Believe me.

I will, Marko. I've not been this excited about a shaving gear purchase for a long time...

Interesting interpretation, however, the original Blackberry Blossom Bay was created by Shawn Maher at my request a few years back. I wanted him to do a riff on bay rum because I love bay rum and wanted one with the awesome qualities of Chatillon Lux post shave products. Shawn, however, has a very strong dislike of traditional bay rum so after some back and forth discussion he Went into his olfactory lab And creative nose and came up with Blackberry Blossom Bay. It was never a tribute to any song bluegrass or otherwise and if there’s a song by that name I believe it’s a coincidence. Now maybe I’m wrong and Shawn was naming it in tribute but if that’s the case he kept it a secret for several years. Maybe it’s ex post facto marketing- Shawn’s other job is advertising. There is West Indian Bay in it but certainly no bay rum. That was the deal. I solicited enough pre-orders from DFS members to ensure he could sell it and the rest is history.

This is my recollection but I’m from Canada and cannabis is legal here and while I don’t indulge, it’s possible that the mere proximity to the stuff has addled my thinking.
