Fellow shavers,
There has been quite a bit of enthusiasm regarding tobacco scented shave soaps recently. I had a puck of HTGAM Cavendish that I relegated to the shower, although I found the scent very nice.
I am a tallow-guy. Can I get your feedback on your top tallow-based tobacco shave soaps?

Eufros Tobacco Premium Tallow Base...

I have the Fougere and it is pretty much amazing. I got a sample of Tobacco, have smell it before and it's also pretty good. I much prefer Fougere though, not a Tobacco scent guy.

I'm with you Primo. I love the scent of PAA Cavendish and enjoy tobacco scents in general. I wish they made it in a tallow version. The only tallow based tobacco-ish soaps I've tried are Maggard Tobacco & Leather, Dapper Dragon Obi Hill, Soapy Bathman Cigar Lounge and Stirling Gentleman. Of those, the closest would be Maggard's but its heavier on the leather note. If they made one that was just tobacco, that would be it. Whatever happened to your cavendish infused MWF?

I love the Stirling Gentleman. To my nose it comes across having a hint of scotch. Almost as if I am in a lounge working on setting up a pipe to smoke. Dapper Dragon Obi Hill is only other tallow tabacco scent I have used, but part of the normal lineup at Dapper Dragon. I am a tallow fan myself, and to my surprise one soap that I really liked is Black Ship Grooming's Captain's Pipe. It is not tallow based, but performs very well, and has a great cherry tabacco scent that is not too sweet or too cherry.

Good memory. All used up. That was premium soap. I might just be answering my own question...

Maggard's Tobacco & Leather is good performance, but the scent is MUCH more leather than tobacco. I have to really focus to pick up any tobacco from it, even during blooming and lathering.

I had no idea Stirling Gentleman is a tobacc0-based scent. I know I am loving it from the sample, but it just smells very deep and cologne-y to me...

With that said, I have, and LOVE both Country Club La Habana and Crowne & Crane Tobacco Leaf & Amber. Both are non-tallow formulations, but both perform extremely well for me. Crowne & Crane is currently in my top 3 soaps for performance, and the scent of TL & A is second to none in my opinion. Country Club is right up there in top 5 for performance, and the scent of La Habana is second ONLY to TL & A...

Just ordered 1oz of Captain Black Tobacco and a refill puck of MWF. I will chronicle the process. If it turns out half as good as the first batch, I'll be pleased. For those of you interested, follow this thread. Great suggestion wyze0ne
