If you remember, keep me posted. I'm curious if it will work. I would assume so but you know what they say about assuming.

I just got my brush back from Scott at DG and have only washed the knot so far, will try and get a shave in tonight and post my findings. The handle I got for the candidate of a DG knot is made by an excellent artisan named Josh of KingShave and let me tell you that his handles are on par in fit and finish as the ones made by Scott. I’ve dubbed this brush “the silver surfer”.

B7 has nice soft tips, but with no gelling ... so you get a lot of presence (of each individual fiber) and solid backbone. It's very nice and will take some time to break-in and soften. Dry there is a little scritch in the brush, but it isn't felt when wet. The brush should soften over usage, losing the scritch, but I doubt this batch will ever gel.

Just got to using my brush today and Sharp_Obsession pretty much nailed it. So I’m just going to include some visuals for reference.

After face lathering. No problem at all releasing the soap.

What are we missing by not having gel tips in the b7??

Not trying to be a smart ass - but you’re missing the face feel of a gel tipped knot. This is not to say the tips don’t hook, because they do. But make no mistake - they’re not gelled and don’t feel like a gel knot. [Image: f34ea674b2a9df0a7fe986d6df926e06.jpg]

For me the reference of Gel Tips means nothing. I have An Elite Manchurian, Declaration B5, & El Druida. All of them “Gel” when wet. The Elite has that fiber feel but the El Druida is like massaging your face with a pillow of slim... Doesn’t sound as nice as it feels. Still haven’t gotten my hands on a B7 yet to accurately place my input but if it’s anything like the B5( which is known to be a bit more sturdy with the backbone) I want it!

I just had a handle made and drilled at 1 1/16" for a 26mm synthetic. Does anyone know if he'll still do a 24mm knot in it since the requirement for a 24mm is 1"? It's only a 1/16th of an inch so I would think it's a small enough difference that he could but I'm knot the expert. Don't really care for the huge brushes.
The website has a FAQ that says what sizeknot Scott will put in what hole. Just reference that when selecting a knot size. I can comment on B7 alone, I have no other Declaration knots in my collection, it is a great knot, ample backbone, and soft, Not gel soft as others seem to chase, I have other "gel" knots in my collection and they have less backbone than I'd like. bottom line if you want one just get it, I think you'd be hard pressed to not enjoy the knot, it's soft, not scrubby and has a good amount of backbone without being stiff

Had my first go around with my new B7 today. I’ve read it needs a dozen or so lathers to soften. I’ve done about 7 hand lathers with a full dry in between each one before today’s shave. I probably should have done more because to my face this wasn’t where I needed it to be. I’m going back to my B6 which is probably the best hair I’ve ever had in a brush period and this brush won’t see the face until it’s seen at least a dozen more lathers. I’ll report back and am hopeful it will turn into a gem from what I have read.
