The sweet feel of success

I'm new with wet shaving and had a small, though rewarding, success this morning. I got my first BBS when judged by rubbing against the grain on several parts of my face. I have thick whiskers and sensitive skin, so getting the BBS comfortably and without blood has been a challenge.

As they say, sometimes it's simple things in life!

Good stuff! I still remember first getting a true BBS shave. It impacted the "boundaries" of my face in that I was so used to have some stubble to define.

Like a cat without whiskers!


Now the challenge will become how not to chase that every time

...I can't get true BBS results.  

To get a BBS shave I would need a final ATG pass, and that would give me an endless supply of razor bumps and ingrown hairs.

Still waiting on mine.  I have actually accepted that I will probably never achieve it and I'm okay with it .  Well maybe I'm not since I have bought more razors to see if it will be the magic one.

It makes sense that everyone can't get one as we all have differences in our body parts.

I didn't get BBS everywhere. More accurate would be to say above the jaw excluding the mustache area and lower lip. Going with the grain I get a good close shave everywhere.

Are there folks that get BBS everywhere?

For me, I'd say its next to impossible below the jawline with the razors I've used so far. DFS is good enough. Anything more and I risk serious irritation especially under the chin. Above the jawline, however, its pretty easy to get BBS if I try. I've stopped trying though. I either do 3 full passes or 2 plus touch up and whatever the result is, I leave it at that.

Count me as another shaver destined to achieve BBS only above the jawline.  Trying for too close of a shave below the jawline, for me, leads to undue misery in bumps and ingrown hairs as Elver Gun and wyze0ne have said.  YMMV, as always!

I have never gotten a complete BBS shave. Now that I have gotten dialed in well what I like and need (good prep, Feather AS-D2 with a Light Brigade, and vintage Floris or Pen's soap), my skin is BBS nearly every day except on my lower neck; there I can hear a slight sandpapery sound when I rub my hand against the grain, even though it feels smooth.
