Gents,

I just got a Henson Medium on B/S/T.  Someone reached out to ask my initial thoughts and I though I would share them with everyone.  This reads like a response to an email as it is one:

"Joe,

I gave it a go and was very impressed. Here are some highlights:
  • I have the medium razor.

  • This is the first aluminum razor I've used that I like.  I don't like the way other ones screw together.  This one uses some flex in the blade to tight nicely and stay that way.

  • It's fairly smooth, yet I was able to get a close, comfortable two pass shave, including shaving against the grain on my upper lips on the second pass.  This is unusual for me in lower priced razors.  There are only two other lower priced razors I have achieved this with.

  • It shaved very well around my nose.  No struggle to get any pesky hairs.

  • It felt like the soap wasn't as slick as usual.  However, I've used this soap many, many times and it has great slickness. I believe the issue is that this razor is made so that more is in contact with your face, thereby causing the feel of less slickness even though there isn't less slickness.  I think this additional contact with skin caused the sensation of not being as smooth as others, though I think that is an incorrect feeling.  I think it is smooth.
Let me know of any questions.  I'm glad I bought it and expect it to be a keeper."

Nice review!

I've been using the Henson almost exclusively since sometime last year. First the Medium Aluminum and now Medium Titanium. It's a great razor and my go-to most days.

That extreme flex to the blade is what keeps it on top for me. I can unscrew it a quarter turn and get a more efficient cleanup. The blade is still ridgid as the day is long and the gap opens up a bit. I haven't found another razor like that, especially at the Aluminum price-point.

Enjoy the shaves.

Great review and thoughts Pete. I still have a Henson although it's the aggressive prototype in aluminum and enjoy it. Glad it's a winner for you.  Happy2

I've noticed this sensation as well. I can't say whether the slickness is in fact reduced, but I do find that this razor works better for me with creams than soaps.
