Hey gents, (with Andrews blessing) I am unofficially introducing the forth coming launching of the Los Angeles Wet Shavers Society. I say "unofficially" because this is not the official DFS sticky thread for the Los Angeles Wet Shavers Society but just an introduction to what is to "officially" launch very shortly. There are a few things I want to do in this thread.
FIRST: I am going to give a brief description of the organization (club).
SECOND: I am going to ask that if you live in the 'Greater Los Angeles Area' and you are interested, to please post here in this thread where you are located geographically (where you live) . ...(you can choose for yourself what that means to you)... it might mean living in Los Angeles/Ventura/Orange counties, or it might mean just living in Southern California period... you choose for yourselves
. Then, if you already haven't received information on attending the inaugural meeting (at 'another' online community), which some of you have already, I will private message you more details on what will be coming to fruition very shortly.
THIRD: I will have a list at the bottom of this post of DFS members who have given me notification that they are interested in attending the inaugural meeting for the Los Angeles Wet Shavers Society. Here we go....

This was an idea that I have wanted to bring to life for sometime now. I live in north Los Angeles and I began to realize to myself that the Los Angeles area has become 'one of' if not thee Mecca for the current explosion of the traditional wet shave culture and art-form. In the Greater Los Angeles Area (GLAA... which is an actual official geographic region and classification) we have more wet shaving/mens grooming product companies in operation in one geographic area, we have more actual shaving supply 'store front' retailers (Old Town Shaving, The Handle Bar Shop, West Coast Shaving, The Groomatroium.. and of course plenty of The Art Of Shaving stores) than anywhere else on earth, and we have the worlds largest and most organized wet shaving trade show/convention (and that is of course "The Big Shave West" ), not to mention the GLAA contains the most concentrated explosion of 'traditional gentlemen's barbershops' than anywhere else in the world (barbershops that specialize in hot towel wet shaves)..... BUT, sadly we had no free standing organized wet shavers clubs. Yes, there are great smaller meet-ups here and there in So.Cal., but we had no official wet shavers organization to represent the city of Los Angeles and its surrounding region with its plethora of wet shaving enthusiasts.
The Los Angeles Wet Shavers Society is a 100% free-standing society/organization (meaning it has no binding affiliation with any one online shaving community, or any product manufacturers, or any retailers in particular) in which our number one goal is to host a physical, face to face, official organization of Wet Shaving enthusiasts for the purpose of camaraderie; to be in each others presence, personable and in person, and enjoying gathering together to talk about the culture, the art-form and the industry of this amazing hobby/life style that we all share in common with people in our immediate geographic area. It is, as of right now, being established with the idea of being non-profit (though thre's no immediate plans to make it an official 401 type organization right now), what I mean is just the idea of the organization is that it is not being established to generate profitable funds whatsoever. Eventually we will make affiliations with online communities, shaving product manufacturers and retailers who would like to support the organization in one way or another. Also, eventually a strictly information website will be created and a Facebook organization page is being constructed as we speak.
The organization will host official members and honorary members. "Official Members" will be members who abide in the immediate geographic region and who have completed a membership application and who are able to regularly attend LAWSS functions and who will eventually have access to official member 'perks'. "Honorary Members" are members who 'DO NOT' abide in the Greater Los Angeles Area and/or Southern California and are not able to regularly attend LAWSS functions (or at all) and are not privy to all the benefits that official members have, but are requested by the LAWSS official staff to represent the organization (like Andrew for example).
It is being headed and formulated by myself, TONE Scott, and Mr. David Gonzales (owner of So Sharp Ltd. products and host of the YOUTube channel SoSharpDavid) who is also a member here. We have plans for organized meet-ups that will include things like lunches/dinners/bbq's, etc, which will also host things like product clinics, guest speakers, and things of that nature. As the organization grows and the members grow with it, we will all have input on the events that take place via the Los Angeles Wet Shavers Society. For reference - I am a record collector and stereophile, and I belong to the Los Angeles and Orange County Audio Society, and I enjoy that incredible organization so much that I thought L.A. needs to have one of these for Wet Shaving... and so here we are and here we go.
As I mentioned, if you show interest by posting where you're from, I will respond to you in a PM with a bit more detailed info on our inaugural meeting.
