I hope unrefined Shea butter might be able to give some comfort and I intend to use it in summer time too. Fingers crossed.

Be sure to report back. I use it all year round. Just use more during the winter.

I found the parcel delivered at home when I came back from office yesterday. I took a day off today so was indoors and have used Shea butter diligently these last 24 hrs. Hands do look nourished and skin a bit healthier today.

Real test will happen tomorrow when I report to work and stay outdoors. By the look of things, I think it will help me beat the effects of harsh winter.

Thanks for the tip,

"I've heard some state that unrefined Shea can go "off" and that may be the case but I keep it in smallish two oz jars and have never had one go rancid. (Keep the big tub in the refrigerator)".

I had 1 lav scented shea butter unrefined from MW. It was a PIF and I thought the scent was off, (it DID work great though),
didn't buy any after that but will do now with refrigerator stowing in mind.

Celestino would NEVER steer us wrong

This is the time of year to buy it, because it won't melt in transit. My husband now swears by the whipped shea butter for winter, and he used to use Intensive Care, Cornhuskers, other lotions.  If anyone is interested, besides plain unrefined shea butter, I have the following scents in whipped shea (spreads more easily, melts into the skin more easily, has the addition of vitamin e and coconut oil): Unscented, Marrakesh, Lavender, Sandalwood Vanilla, Dragon's Lair (a dragon's blood scent), Jasmine Vanilla, Khaleesi (same as my Egyptian Dragon), Vanilla, and Sandalwood Rose.

Shea butter has a long shelf life, of about two years. I've used the shea butter from several producers over the years - the one that I am most happy with is from a woman's cooperative in Ghana - they make a very clean product with (I think) minimal nutty scent.

Thanks for the heads-up Michelle!  Shea is marvelous stuff and Mystic Waters is a marvelous asset!  (Poggio dei Pini is sublime).  So I just had a grandson in the hospital due to an abscess meaning he was obviously on heavy antibiotics.  As seems the case, diaper rash went wild and the poor kid was suffering.  The hospital had some cream mom was using but I brought some unrefined Ghana women's co-op Shea, aaplied some, and the next morning baby was we'll  on the way to cured.  Nurse was shocked but not me!  Works on babies bottom as well as my old leathern hide.

I've been using the Earth Rose Whipped Shea Butter from MW during the cold/dry spells for the past year.  It is amazing how well it works and the scent is divine!  MW also offers a cuticle balm which I haven't tried yet.  At least for me, as long as I put some of the shea butter on the cuticles and the corners of the fingernails, I've been able to avoid the cracks there as well.

Based on Michelle's comments, I should probably grab another jar with my next order so nothing melts in transit.  But in the meantime, I have a jar of the Vanilla Sandalwood ready to go Smile.
