Here is my new Thäter Brush 26mm Synthetic Handle is really nice and love the look of ivory colour.

I replaced this knot with 25mm Black Synthetic knot from Paragon which is performance of Mühle Rytmo. I cannot express how highly I regard this knot particular by soft feel, lather is amazing and just in General my 2nd choice besides to Plisson Syntetic. Happy2

Original knot by Thäter I find it too rough and springy on face I personally wouldn’t use it at all now your YMMV but I always prefer gentle soft knots.

Handle is polished prior setting new Knot..

Hope you like it

Nice job! Do you mind if I ask how you removed the knot?

I’m 97% sure that the Thater synth is the same as Shavemac. I share your opinion on the knots. I love the handles but not the knots. I understand that Si knots can be removed with relative ease but epoxy glue requires a special drill bit.

Hi

Thanks you for your kind words, I used heavy duty dremmel tool and bits for removing epoxy..

What I do is I use sharp scalpel and cut hairs off close to the handle gently and making sure you don’t slip and damage Handle as you may have to repolish all over again.

Then I use drill bit and slowly create a hole deep enough not all the way and then Insert my dremmel tool bit to remove epoxy and work your way around gently and paying attention speed of dremmel..

After I’m done removing  knot, I repolish and clean up inside then I see how how high I want my knot to sit using epoxy before setting knot inside..

Hope this helps, yes seems lot of work but it needs to be done right without damaging Handle etc..

Regards

Thanks for your great response AlanH81 !

I’ll likely hold off on the replacement until I have the tools to get the job done right. I have two already empty handles I should probably fill first anyways lol.

Also, I just noticed that you’re the gentleman with barbershop spray bottle. I was browsing around the big A and added one to my cart on whim. It’s a great addition to the den! I spray my hard soaps to “soak” them and it makes dialing in the lather fun and easy.

My best!
