No, just some are getting their knickers in a twist that it might be made in China.
Fella happens to be Swiss

I asked and he stated that it is made in Switzerland. Their previous Essence razor was machined in China and assembled in Switzerland.

If you are talking about a CNC machined razor, I am not certain it makes any difference where the razor was machined as the computer takes care of the setup and operation. What might be more important is where the CNC machine was manufactured. I suspect there are various brands of machine with various tolerances. Unfortunately, I have never seen any reference to the type of CNC machine on which any razor was manufactured. With a CNC razor, what is most critical is the design specifications of the razor as those are what the CNC machine uses for setup. If it is designed properly, and the right raw materials are used, a CNC machine in China is going to turn out the same quality as one elsewhere.

I'm familiar with CNC and agree. It was mentioned more in regards to overall cost going in to the razor since cost of labor in China is much lower than it would be in Switzerland.

I got a Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch as a high school graduation gift in 1966.  It was heavy, never kept good time, and was stolen from me at knifepoint.  They are expensive, inaccurate, heavy, require regular maintenance (at $600 to $1200 every 5 years), and are particularly attractive to thieves.  They are empty status symbols sought after and worn mostly by empty status seekers.  Why would you want one?

As for the Tedalus Razor, there are several reasons besides the high price that I wouldn't buy one; notably neutral blade exposure and the shape of the handle.  I like a positive blade exposure, and a handle with a slender neck (such as the Stirling Soap Company's "Austin" handle).  IMO everything Swiss is overpriced and overrated.  They have a very high opinion of themselves.

I would like to see, read or hear from those who have actually shaved with this razor. Ron (Snuff) has been around the shaving forums for quite some time and I value his feedback. Since I have neither designed, fabricated nor marketed a razor, I give credit to those that do. To me, this is a great looking razor and if it shaves as good as it looks then that's an achievement on its own. I see that the handle is recessed into the head, like Blackland Blackbird, Yates, Tatara, etc., so handle exchanges (provided that there might not be other handle options by Tedalus or a third-party) are limited to the original handle. However, I like the design of the handle. I would like to know how long the threaded cap stem is, as I prefer the longer stems. How will this razor be presented and packaged?

It is terrific to have options, even though some of those options are pricey. On that note—congratulations to Tedalus on their first DE—the Velocity-One!

P.S. Switzerland is the most innovative country for 2023 and for the thirteenth consecutive year.

andrewjs18 Dave in KY and others, I asked Manuel if he would be open to doing a DFS passaround that I would organize. I bought his Tedalus Essence razor from him and am pleased with it. No word back yet but I’ll keep you posted.

That would be very interesting! Did you had to pay taxes/customs on top of the $$$ price?

The Essence is an exceptional razor.
I’m currently trialling the Velocity, thoughts at the end.
