I completely agree with you about Soap Commander. It does have a very nice post shave for a vegan soap and it lathers like a beast!

I started my wetshaving "career" with vegan soaps, but as soon as I started trying tallow based soaps, even the very basic ones like the Lea stick, I realized my lather was creamier, and that they softened my whiskers better than the non-tallow ones. Therefore, I admit I lean more towards tallow than vegan. This doesn't mean that vegan products in my inventory, like my Eufros or Alvarez Gómez, do not perform at that same very high level.

I had problems with my skin breaking out (rosacea papules, occasionally actual zits) when I started wet shaving, & the worst culprits all happened to be tallow-based. These days, when I buy a soap (I mostly stick to creams), I go vegan, but as I don't have enough data to be sure that tallow was the problem it's largely superstitious behavior.

I get a more yoghurt like dense thick lather from my tallow soaps, and more voluminous lather from my non tallow based soaps.

I enjoy my top tallow based soaps as much as my top non tallow based soaps.
