This sounds somewhat familiar from my journey. I can’t even pinpoint what caused the change for me. It could have been the almost negative pressure (I know, sounds silly) I learned to apply, or the angle of the head, or the length of the strokes or their specific direction… Somehow, I now just know that I can pick up the Blackbird and get a great shave with no issues. It’s still a razor that demands attention and respect, but I enjoy the closeness of the shave that it provides.

I've shaved with my SB blackbird 5 times and I still can't get it right. I want to so bad.

My advice would be to give it another 4–5 shaves. It took about a dozen shaves to learn how to really make it work for me.
