So new to the straight. Have watched to strop 20 - 25 on rough side. 50 on smooth. Shave. 15 on rough.

I have all leather strop.

Then last Stalion, where he's on 48 w gd 66 and says he's used the "cotton" once?

Was up?

Try not to press down very hard on the strops.
Keep the strop on tight side of things, not white knuckle tight, just taught.

Also, try to keep the sound the razor makes consistent on the away lap and on the way back, this will improve your edge in my opinion and experience.
Random is usually not a goal I aim for.

When I was into straights I used the cotton to "freshen" the blade. I added a diamond paste to the cotton and did a couple of passes when the blade started to tug. I have heard of people using denim in place of cotton.
