Stirling Balm vs Soap Commander Balms

Can anyone give a direct comparison on menthol levels/cooling on the Unscented versions that come with menthol? And overall comparative thoughts between the two? I like Soap Commander Balms, but have yet to try any from Stirling. Thanks for the help.

I have them both. Honestly, I cannot tell much of a difference in face feel. They are both pretty moisturizing after a shave and do a nice job. I might actually give the nod to Stirling, because its more affordable and to me, does just as nice of a job. Hard to believe too because Soap Commander makes the best balms but Stirlings are pretty solid.

I have several Stirling balms and two Soap Commander balms. Both are excellent but I prefer Stirling for it's ingredients and price. Among the many scents I have from Stirling I have the unscented with menthol, which feels a little cooler than Soap Commander. You can't go wrong with either.

I'm with you. I do think the Stirling balms provide just a touch more cool of a face feel. Like I said, you cant go wrong with any of the balms but Stirlings are a bit cheaper for what I feel are very similar ingredients and face feel.

I will add one thing you might find interesting, and it concerns this time of year. I've never, ever had a Soap Commander balm break down on me, even being shipped during the summer. Last year, I ordered a couple Stirling balms and they broke down on me during the summer during shipment. I was never able to get those two balms back to they way they were supposed to be, not with keeping them on the shelf, shaking them, or putting them in the fridge, they were never proper. Just something to consider, I live in South Carolina so you might not run into this. Henceforth, I will order Stirling balms fall/winter.

I did have one of many Stirling Balms sort of "come apart" on me once also. It needs a very vigorous shaking every time before use, and then separates almost like an oil salad dressing after sitting. Not sure if it was the batch, the heat or what. It was the only one out of about a half dozen of them that has done this, and it was also maybe close to two years ago, so I don't know if there has been any kind of formula change since then.

The only Stirling balm that broke down on me is Glacial Wintergreen, but it arrived that way and might be due to the huge amount of menthol. I libe in Vegas so it doesn't get much hotter than here. When I get a balm during the summer I set it on the counter for a few hours or overnight before using. Also, shaking a balm really good usually takes care of it. Last night I used SC Passion which I rarely use, and it always breaks down as a result, but shaking it returns it to balm form.

The ingredients are different but they do feel and perform similar. The oils are all different, the preservatives are different, and Stirling has witch hazel and glycerin unlike SC. They do both have shea, aloe, emulsifying wax, and water but that's it.

I posted above that I do have a SC balm that breaks down, and it might be both but I have to check this evening. I just shake them really well before use. Last night the Passion came out as a bubbly liquid because I forgot to shake it. I have about 7 Stirling balms and only the glacial has broken down, but it was always that way no matter how much I shake it.

I use both to match soaps but in terms of just the balm the nod for me goes to Soap Commander.
