Hopefully they don't do like Peter Jackson did with the release of the movies. Release the original first, then wait about 6 months and release the extended special edition with all the special features once everyone had purchased the original. They did that crap with the DVD and BD, it was annoying.

That would be my worst guess. Isn't it owned by Disney now? If so, they will milk it for every last penny and then some. Look what they did with the original Star Wars and sequels and prequels... Rumor has it that they can't be rented at this time. But Disney has them all for sale. Never give a sucker an even break.

I've learned to hold back and not let my enthusiasm, or the enthusiasm of others, cost me big bucks. If I miss it in the theatre and they don't release a 3D version (I don't believe it) I'll just wait and watch it at home and turn on the 3D. Or if their marketing ticks me off enough, not take part at all and wait for the 3D version to be released and still view it at home. I don't go to the theatre very often.

Brian, it is owned by Disney now. I'll have to check later to see about the renting. The one good thing about Disney and 3D (at least with the cartoons) is that Disney tends to bundle the 3D, BD, DVD, and digital copy all in one edition.

Brian, I thought there was a 3-D version, though I'm not sure.

There is a 3D version in theaters. The big thing is whether or not it was shot in 3D or if the 3D effects were added after.

Ah, I see. The funny thing is, when I saw the very first Star Wars film in 1977, it felt as if I was watching a 3-D movie as the effects were so brilliantly done.

I watched it Sunday. I think it was good but not near as good as I expected. I think Abrams did a much better job with Star Trek. My family felt the same too. I did enjoy it though and recommend seeing it to others.

I didn't know there was a 3D version. This is the first I've heard of it. Thanks.
