For about a year or so, people have been saying that we should have a meet up in STL. So I finally got the ball rolling on it and now we have something organized. It's going to be in a pavilion at Tower Grove Park (of Yuzu/Rose/Patchouli fame) and a bit more informal than others, but still fun. Here's what we're talking about so far:
  • Catering from Sugarfire Smokehouse and likely The Vine to accommodate vegetarians and vegans
A special Chatillon Lux aftershave for attendees
Other artisanal giveaways (rumors of Lynn from Straight Razor Designs and possibly a soap or two)
A swapping table to leave behind goods that need some love and pick up other goodies that others have left
Man soda from local breweries as well as soft drinks and bottled water
The opportunity to mingle with other weirdos like ourselves

This is going to run noon to 5pm. It will be in the Old Carriage Shelter pavilion, which is just east of the statue of Henry Shaw in the roundabout on Center Crossing Road. I can give more directions and lodging recommendations if needed.

So if you're in the region and want to join us, then that would be great. I have set up an Eventbrite page to get tickets to cover the food and refreshments (I'll cover the pavilion rental and aftershave freebies since I'm the host and that's the way that kind of thing works).

Additionally, there is a Facebook group if you would like to join there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/401488583560250/

I'm nowhere near Missouri, so I won;t be attending, but I have to say that it is fantastic to see so many people getting together outside of the glow of computer screens to laugh and talk in person around our hobby.

Kudos to you for setting it up!

Thanks! I'm keeping it low-key for my own sanity, but the way I see it is that we have a spot, some food and some shavers. What else would we need?

Also going to enjoy seeing Stirling Soap Co. to the meetup for all the STL Cardinals talk you can handle! His video tour of the workshop made me stupid jealous of all his redbird memorabilia and I will be letting him know that.

That sounds great, too. And you can feel free to berate me about that wonderful, amazing World Series. But hey, at least you know what a Stanley Cup win feels like.

10 June in StL? I hope they have AC.
My newly wed (as of last June) son is due to expect the arrival of his first baby on the 28th of May in Oklahoma. Since Tower Grove is only 1 hr 45 min away from me, I wouldnt mind attending, but will have to see how the summer schedule plays out. I am currently looking for a babysitter for my 3 heifers, 4 sheep, and 30+ chickens. If you know of one, pass along their name and number to me (just kidding of course). I think I have a local farm boy baited with cash to watch things for me while I am out.

Ha, yeah, I'm hoping that the shade of the pavilion does some good and there's a good wind.

And man, I have friends who have enough trouble finding baby sitters for their human children, haha. Hopefully we'll see you up there! And congratulations on the new addition to your family!

(This post was last modified: 04-08-2017, 12:41 AM by hawns. Edit Reason: accidentally left out Straight Razor Designs WHOOPS )
Here are some updates on the meetup:
  • I have launched a website at STLShave.com
  • Confirmed vendors in attendance: Stirling Soap, Sudsy Soapery, Black Tie Razor Co, Chatillon Lux, Straight Razor Designs
  • Exclusive for the meetup: a limited edition Chatillon Lux aftershave free to all attendees (scent profile is fresh citrus with some subtle woody undertones)
  • Another exclusive for the meetup: Sudsy Soapery will be selling a soap with Chatillon Lux's Delor de Treget scent

And of course, the ticket cost of $15 includes a catered lunch, refreshments including local microbreweries, free samples, and an adoption table where you leave your gear that needs some love and pick up something new to try so we can get neglected stuff into good homes (I will be bringing a ton of soaps I don't use anymore to give out)
