WSP Formula T Sandalwood SS (tallow)
Haircut & Shave P076-SB 17-4/Triad Aristocrat Black
Wilkinson London Bridge (16)
Ralph Lauren Safari aftershave (vintage)

The soap made excellent lather. Its scent to me is not 'pure' sandalwood, but more of a muddy cologne with sandalwood and hints of underlying clay like in Valobra soaps. I don't think I am going to be as fond of it as my other sandalwoods, but time will tell. For some reason the blade felt a little harsh, but I doubt that was caused by the lather.

An English shave

Wade & Butcher razor
Simpson Chubby badger hair brush
Floris shaving soap

I nearly rubbed a hole in my finger removing the rust spots on both sides of the blade.

Abrasives glide over the hard steel! I tried silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, and diamond in the hope of speeding up the metal removal. It still took me over an hour of hard rubbing to clean and polish, leaving some of the original grind marks for patina. To sharpen it, I startied with a Russian Venev diamond stone to set the bevel and finished with a 20K Suehiro Gokumyo before stropping. It has a keen edge that will shave for months with stropping. It is a damn fine shaver.

SOTN Aug. 8

Maybe they're after me now.

Pholcus phalangioides, aka "Daddy Longlegs"
This guy was waiting for me on the sink. It took me a bit of poking around to figure out that he was on his back. And quite dead.
I found it odd that almost all the middle sections of the legs were straight up, and the tips of the distal (farthest from the body) sections were all resting on the thorax. Almost an optical illusion.
I got him sorted out (waste basket), then set up the shaving gear for the SOTN photo op.

prep - shower with Caprina Fresh Goat’s Milk Original Formula bar soap - getting thin enough to be flexible. I had better check my inventory.
razor - British Aristocrat Junior
blade - Astra SS (7)
brush - Unknown brand of vintage-ish boar. I call it my "David Lynch Brush". It was probably abused by the previous owner by being left standing bristles-down in the mug every day. I do like the handle though.
soap - Stirling Coniferous
post - warm water rinse, DSA “Pure & Natural” alum, cold water rinse
aftershave - Pinaud Clubman
music - streaming the CBC Listen "Afro Beat" playlist

Results: I give it a 3/5. BBS, but with a couple of weepers. More weepers than I would expect with the Ari Jr.
I blame the WS blade, of course.
[edit: I just realized that I complained about a blade that I did not actually use. Wot the heck - I still don't like Wilkinson Sword blades.]
