A post-insomnia shave. Weirdly, it seems a bunch of people had trouble sleeping last night.

Mühle 23mm Silvertip Fibre (olive wood handle)
B&M Latha Taiga
Schick I-2 Hydromagic
Schick (4)
Proraso green AS
Proraso green ASB
Caron Yatagan EDT

If I'm going all coniferous with Taiga, I tend to reach for Yatagan or Esencia Loewe as my fragrance for the day.

onethinline I had trouble sleeping too. I'd blame my insomnia, but it could be a result of the unusual rain/hail storm that just rampaged through my neighborhood Tongue.

By the way, how are you liking the Muhle Silvertip Fibre? I'm getting more serious about picking up a synthetic, and have so far narrowed it down to two options: Either a Plisson or the Muhle Silvertip Fibre, both with a nice handle (the default plastic isn't that appealing to me - I really like the exact model you have of the Muhle).

NeoXerxes, The synthetic brushes are so amazing now that I use mine (Stirling Shave Co. Kong, Plisson pour L'Occitane, and Kent Infinity Silvertex) about as much as my boars, badgers, and horsehairs.  I like them so much that even though the Envy White seems to be the knot most of our members are looking at for the DFS LE brush, I only have eyes for the synthetic.  Let us know if you get a synthetic, which one you get, and what you think about it once you have had a chance to use it. Smile

I certainly will Freddy! I've been looking at them for quite some time on the recommendation of a few members and friends. I'd prefer not to get multiple synthetic brushes, as I have a preference (when it comes to hardware in particular) for only purchasing one product of each "type" (though "type" is defined loosely when I want to make excuses for a purchase Tongue). I really do want one, and right now the choice is between the Plisson and the Muhle, which I have narrowed down because of the reputation of the "hair" type and because of my admiration for the handle options. I have to say though, that DFS LE is very nice. I'd have considered it if I was more experienced with synthetic brushes and knew my own preferences.

And wow Skinny Rogers, what an awesome shave! I'm loving the combination of all of the products, including the clever pairing of SV Tundra with Royal Oud.

So strange: a whole group of people I know said they had trouble sleeping last night. Baffling, and odd.

The Mühle is my second brush with their Silvertip Fibre (both v2); the first one I got is the Edwin Jagger XL synthetic. I like the feel of the fibers themselves: very soft, but not floppy the way the Plisson-type knot can feel (depending on the loft it's set at). For me, the EJ XL is a bit too big, as synth knots need to be pressed in a bit more to splay usefully. That XL tends to fling lather around and make a bit of a mess. The olive wood 23mm Mühle is better behaved, but the smaller knot means I need to use a bit more pressure to get splay from it. It certainly has some backbone, but is soft. I like it, but I'm not sure I love it yet. The handle does look great. It's also smaller in person than I expected.

I should say that my favorite synthetic right now is my Maggard 24mm, which uses the Plisson-style knot but at a larger diameter and slightly lower loft than a Plisson, so they overcome much of the Plisson's floppiness. It's a great brush. It was also only $12! Not a bad way to see if you like the Plisson style.
