Something weird happened today. Three pass shave with no incidents whatsoever, BBS and feeling good. I found the sweet spot with the Mystic and it lathered perfectly fine, and had the excellent shave worth of these excellent soaps. I put on some Speick lotion, got dressed, and right before leaving home I put a few drops of Korres on my face as I usually do with my balms. I let the skin absorb the lotion, then I apply some balm, as most of times my skin demands something a bit more hydrating than just an after shave lotion. Here comes the funny bit. A couple of minutes after putting the Korres balm on, I started feeling an usual and weird feeling of heat in a few spots of my face, along with some serious redness. I went upstairs  again (luckily I was in no hurry), washed my face, put some Aloe gel and Eufros balm on and all was fine again. Weirdest of all is that prior to applying the balm, I was feeling perfectly fine. On the other hand, today I experienced some sensation of discomfort in my lips after using this soap (it had happened before with an Irish Traveller) which makes me think there's something in the Mystics that doesn't fit me well. Excellent soaps, no doubt, but seems that they're not my cup of tea.

My thought is that there's something wrong with the Korres balm and my skin... that has shown up today, after a somehow "demanding" shave, because I've used it quite a few times already and never experienced such a weird reaction like today's. It will sit still for a few days, I guess, and won't be reaching for it unless the shave has been mild and easy.

It’s never fun to be a guinea pig, but it sounds like you might have to do some further testing to find out the cause for the reaction.

Early shave as the weather has been cold and no golfing for a few days. This is a great shave brush and my Red Tip is still a favorite.

It's happened before, but not with the Korres balm, which I considered (up to the present day) a good quality product. I had experienced similar reactions with the Bulldog balm, and it usually happened when I used it for a few days in a row. All was good, and one day, all of a sudden, that weird reaction again. If I rotated it with other products, no problem. It's like I could develop some sensibility to any of the ingredients.

The only balm that has never given me any problem is the Eufros balm, so the solution to the issue is quite easy. You may think "just don't use a balm at all", but if I use just a lotion I feel fine after shaving, but an hour or so afterwards I feel my skin dry and yelling for hydration.
