Today I did something I knew in advance I should not have done.
I was going to shave with the Valet VC 4. The old blade had only been used once and gave an excellent shave. But I stropped it. Ten strokes.  Before I had done 1/2 of one side of my face I knew it was not cutting. I put it aside and banked it.

Then to multiply my follies I took the Gillette Slim Handle Adjustable 1 - 9.  I set it at 9! I got an excellent shave but also received two generous cuts on my chin.

So all my problems were self made and self inflicted.
I reaped what I had sown.

Mickey, setting the Slim at 9 is something not everyone would think of doing. Smile I applaud you on your bravery and hope the cuts heal quickly!

I also realized we are carrying on a thread that is “yesterday’s news,” so to speak. Freddy, is it perhaps time to close this thread?
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

I am not going to close the thread.  However, I would ask members to please be aware of the current week's dates of the latest SOTD thread.

I try to post the new week's SOTD thread when it is about midnight on Sunday in the U.K.  I do this for a couple of reasons.  First, it is where the Prime Meridian is located and is a logical time and place to start the new week.  Second, I believe the U.K. may contain the second largest contingent of members, after the United States.  Obviously, there is going to be overlap each week, depending on where you are posting from, but after about a day, unless you are referring to another post, please make sure your SOTD is placed in the correct thread.  It would be easier to follow your posts and be much appreciated.  Thanks. Smile

Thank you Matthew.
I was not brave. I was foolish. I am good at that.
The bleeding did not require styptic or tourniquet. Just a couple of dabs with a tissue.

Freddy, We learn so much from the past. Please do not close the thread. It is educational as well as entertaining.
I read every entry without exception. Those who take the time to send the posts, many of which are works of art, deserve the reader's attention and appreciation.
I am sure Greenwich, mean as it may be, is also highly appreciative.
