This was my first cold water shave and while it was excellent, it was no better than my normal warm water shave.  It is nice to have a bit of variety, though, so I can see myself doing this again. Smile

PRESHAVE: Face wash with soap and warm/hot water
RAZOR: ATT R1 with MR22 handle
BLADE: Gillette 7 o'clock Yellow (2)
SOAP: Soap Commander "Endurance" sample (1st try)
BOWL: VDH
BRUSH: Proraso Omega Boar (model ??)
POST: Rinse with warm/hot water to get soap off and then some cold water rinses/splashes and pat try.

Comments: I used the ATT R1 today with a 7 o'clock yellow and did a two pass plus some touch up and ended up with a DFS with no issues at all! No irritation but one weepers on the chin! The ATT R1 handled the shave just fine! The blade was very good as it seemed both sharp and smooth so no complaints with it. The brush being only my second time using it and it seems like an okay brush. I am told that it is a boar brush but I thought is was some kind of synthetic but I guess not! The tips are soft but the rest is kinda stiff but that it probably because it is new. I am not sure I like it that much but I will need more time to test it out. This is the my first time with this soap sample and I like it alot. It is very good soap, great slick lather and protection, although this sample seemed like it was trying to dry out some during the pass. Shave was very good today!

Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV!

Thx

Mail call yesterday! Maggard MR6 with V1 Head  from Shave_Bazaar $12.32 and Mike's Natural Peppermint & Rosemary from Shave_Bazaar $9.86

Last night I test lathered the soap and let the razor sit in some isopropyl alcohol for 20 minutes or so to clean it out.
I bloomed the soap while I prepped my face with Every Man Jack face scrub. Let it sit for awhile as i lathered up. The soap lathered quite easily and am very impressed by how think the lather went on my face after washing off the face scrub.
As I slid the razor down my face for the first time I couldn't believe how close it was getting and how much more aggressive it was compared to my Merkur 47C Long Handle Safety Razor. It may just be the 40g weight difference between the two of them.
I did 2 passes. 1 WTG and 1 X/ATG (Cross/Against). WOW is it ever close and smooth. I did a quick cleanup pass. There was 3 little nicks due to me not fully taking into account the weight of the razor.
Look forward to using the blade tomorrow with my Stirling Soap End Cut (Wintergreen)
