Excellent shave today. This Stewart custom shaves differently than my other straights. It feels more solid and is just as smooth. Defiance provided the lather and aftershave. I cleaned up with my Rockwell in the places I'm not confident with straights yet - near my nose and around my beard.
Prep: Chatillon Lux butter
Soap: Dr. Jon's Defiance
Brush: Brothers Bristles Bronze Shadow
Razor: Gary Stewart 6/8 Tamarind, Rockwell 6s
Blade: Rapira SS
AS: Dr. Jon's Defiance[Image: fc944aaa0088ac9987d84d2c44e961cb.jpg]

Beautiful photo! And I really like the 'two razor' shave-I'll do this myself sometimes, one razor to take down the stubble, the other for the 'fine' work.
Great setup!

Thank you Michael. Yeah, I always use an SE to shape my goatee and do edging work like the line on the back of my neck and my hooks (my little sharp side burns) Then I face shave with the DE.

Had another shave with Sabre, but on a 36hour growth. CRSW Arctic was an absolute delight and the shave turned out to be one of the most pleasant, problem and irritation free BBS shaves. This is my only mild razor and I am very happy with it. The D7 brush is by Doug Korn with a 27mm Romera knot, which turned out to have gel-like tips.

Which Vie Long model is that and how would you describe the backbone and softness? It looks beautiful!

It is Vie Long 16510 silvertip.
Very soft, i think is the softer brush i have. But it does not have backbone. It is a Cheer leader pom pom but i don't mind, sometimes gives to me a good and soft shave.

The Vie Long I have is labeled silver tip but it visually looks more like Eurasian badger or 2 band (grayish). I have been wanting to get another Vie Long silver tip because of the lack of treatment or bleaching on the tips. The brush i posted just a bit ago in this thread is describable as the same. It is very flimsy and lacking in backbone and simply soft and painterly. It is the most lifeless brush I have but is the most frequently used brush as of late because it is best for my skin when I am daily shaving.

Cheers my friend!
