I could never get a decent lather from that soap. What's the secret?
Chris,
I use the same technique across the board for all my shave soaps: I soap brush in warm water and I keep the soap dry while I take a shower. Then I shake downwards my brush 4 times for most of my brushes the swirl the brush on the soaps no more than 15 seconds. For Scottish Fine, I swirled about 12 seconds while holding the soap dish vertical so suds dripped down into the shave bowl. Swirled the lather around 1:15-1:30 minutes (first pic) so some form and most of the airy pockets are gone, then added between 2 teaspoons to 1 tablespoon water and swirled some more , maybe another 1:30 tops to get the peaks in 2nd photo. Last pic is around 10 minutes after shaving, and cleaning gear. Still holding peaks. For me a little easier to lather than Mitchells Wool Fat.
before adding water - airy texture
after adding water. nice peaks and yogurt texture
after shave and clean-up 10 minutes or so
