I've been using the Barbiere a great great deal recently.  Not only does it -- for me, at least -- give a great shave but it's appealing to me in this last spring/early summer weather I'm having.

Prep: Myrsol Masaje Antesol
Bowl: Thirsty Badger
Brush: Voigt & Cop
Soap: Martin de Candre Vetyver
Razor: Atelier Durdan La Faux TI SB++
Blade: Kai Captain Standard
Post: Alum Rub
AS: Myrsol Formula K

First shave with the La Faux SB++ plate using a moderate Kai Standard blade. Smooth and nice efficent shave. For sure there is more potential when going with more sharp AC blades. Compared to the new OC plate with asks for a bit of learning cure with its long theets, this one is intuitive and spot on.

Good to hear positive results on the SB++ plate. I am planning to order one soon as well.

Razor: Rockwell 6S #4
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (d6)

Soap: Historic & Oak Embargo (beta test)
Brush: The Wet Shaving Store Faux Horn w/ v1 G7 synthetic knot
Bowl: Fine Accoutrements Fine Lather Bowl

Post 1: P.A.A. Alum w/ No-Slip Grip System & Dry Dock System
Post 2: Historic & Oak Embargo Recovery Balm
Aftershave: Historic & Oak Embargo

Historic & Oak may be new to many of you but they've been around for a while making aftershaves in small batches. What sets them apart is that their aftershaves mature in traditional Coopered European Oak barrels. During this process, natural polyphenols are pulled from the carbonized oak. This process provides many benefits for your skin but also plays a role in shaping the fragrances.

They're now branching out into shave soaps and are looking for feedback. Hence my shave today. As you can see the lather looks really good. I can tell you that it also performs very well. I have no reservations about saying this is a high-quality soap. The base is a beer and stearic acid based soap that whipped up easily into a dense, creamy lather that had some really good residual slickness. I was impressed.

The scent you may be wondering is best described as a blend of cognac and sweet tobacco but being barrel aged in Limousine oak natural vanilla tannins are infused, as well as notes of caramel and smoke. This is what gives it that honey-brown color.

I'm my personal opinion, the scent is phenomenal! It's raw, it's real, and it's very manly. There's a solid boozy, smokey, tobacco vibe to it, so don't say I didn't warn you. This may not be for all men. But if you want a fragrance with some character, this one's sure to grab the attention of our fairer sex. My lady commented on this one and approved it.

I did a three-pass shave with the 6S and plate 4. It shaved me perfectly and I earned a sweet bbs face thinking to myself the entire time, that I'm thankful for owning this razor. It does a great job!

Once done shaving I first applied some Recovery balm. This stuff is actually, really good. I'm not typically a balm guy but I genuinely liked this one. It has some really good ingredients including aloe, glycerin, witch hazel, dragons blood, hyaluronic acid, and many different seed butters. Note! This can also be used as a pre-shave as well.

I let the balm have a few minutes to soak in before applying the aftershave splash. It has alcohol, witch hazel, and alum among a slew of some nice oils. It also has the same unmistakable Embargo fragrance that I've come to enjoy.

Overall this was a standout shave. I'm definitely looking forward to shaving with this software again. And if you're interested, go check out their site. This beta test is limited but there are still some sets left.

Thanks for reading my friends. Take care and enjoy your shaves.
