Georg, you are the first person to be critical of this brush. The way everyone is praising it, I had thought that they must have used a special boar as it commands a hefty price tag. Are the bristles that much better than Semogues SOC or Zenith boar brushes, or do you find them to be similar?

I am really enjoying the Thater boar. The brush continues to improve with each use. I can't compare it to a Semoge as I have never used one. I find it easier to break in than my Omega brushes and more dense than my Zenith boar brushes. I am satisfied with my purchase and the price paid.

I am a badger guy. I have tried several boars over the years, mostly Semogues (SOC, LE's like the Tricolore etc). In the end I always sold them because I did not find them as comfortable as a fine badger on the face. Probably, I also did not have the patience to break them in over a six months period. Having said that, other than the handle, which is indeed a huge step-up, I don't see a huge difference vs a quality Semogue regarding the bristles. I have used the Thäter Boar twice on my face and since then do palm lathers every two days to help break it in. So I am aiming to hang in there and then give a more thorough review after 30 dry-wet cycles or so.
