Just Here for the Shaves

Razor: Gillette Fatboy F4 1960
Blade: Gillette Spoiler (2)
Brush: Grizzly Bay Oumo SHD Handmaster
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Nivea Deep
Fragrance: BVLGARI Man in Black Essence

So to start off today with the extra whisker growth due to yesterday's less than BBS shave I decided to put a wet towel in a glass bowl and heat it in the microwave. After wetting my face good I applied a TRUE HOT towel which felt great and I feel helped me get the whiskers softened more than what I normally get since I don't shave after a shower (Evening Shower guy here) I then went with for another 1st using Mitchell's Wool Fat for the first time ever............................................I know, I know, I know.ALL these years of shaving this way and I somehow never got to trying it. I will say I guess I have better than average water or I was chosen or whatever I didn't have any trouble getting a nice lather that produced the legendary slickness and Have the post shave feel of my skin I hear about as well. The scent is an amazing oak, vanilla almost like a bourbon..............................................NOPE, just kidding, it's soap scent but a great shave was had. Today I was back to using 50+ year old Gillette's for that focus this week on the 30DC Crew at TSD. For that I have my 1960 F4 Fatboy found at the Flea Market for $3 and $50 more to get it redone in Rhodium. Paired with a 2nd use Gillette Spoiler and the whiskers were virtually jumping out of their follicles in fear. Topped with the Humphrey's, Nivea Deep and hit some shots of Man in Black Essence and I'm ready to tackle the day or let the day tackle me. Have a Stupid Fun Day Everyone !!

SOTD WEDNESDAY MORNING, Day 4 Gillette Focus, January 13, 2021

Here we are on Day 4 of the Gillette safety razor focus, and it was time to pull out my favorite shaving Gillette, the New LC. This safety razor is hands down my favorite dome shaving Gillette. It never fails to deliver a very close, smooth noggin shave, and it certainly didn’t disappoint this morning. Equipped with a Kai blade it swept away the dome stubble while providing that blade feel I so enjoy. The mug shave that followed featured my Wade & Butcher 7/8 with its retouched Naniwa 12k/Jasper stone edge. Three delightfully slow buttery smooth passes completed this morning’s shave and put the baby to bed. I feel refreshed, clean and velveteen smooth.

RAZOR: Wade & Butcher 7/8 (Mug), Gillette New LC (Dome)
BLADE: Kai DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger
SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Pre de Provence Bergamot & Thyme AS Balm.

Razor: 2020 Paradigm Diamondback (Thanks Thomas)
Blade: Wizamet SI (6)
Brush: Wolf Whiskers 26-mm
Soap: MdC Original (Thanks Thomas)
Post: CC Venture AS
Three passes; BBS.

After the brass ‘bird yesterday, it didn’t feel like I had any substantial whiskers this morning.  But I still wanted to shave.  So I chose a smooth razor.  The 2020 DB is beautiful, smooth and close.  It’s a stellar shaving tool and, I believe, it’s destined to become a classic. The MdC Original smells great, just like when I’m ripping knotty  pine boards on the old (pre-OSHA) 240-volt Craftsman table saw that my wife’s father ordered from the Sears catalog, probably more than six decades ago.  The WW brush has a wonderful balance of scrub and splay and soft.  I also really like the Venture.  Not a strong scent, good burn w/o being over the top, and nice post-shave feel.  All in all, another fantastic and close shave.  This hobby is a daily respite from less pleasant things.  Stay safe, and be safe.

Happy Shaves to All.

Lather: Zingari Wanderer Sego base

Lather Bowl: Pereira Unbreakable

Post Shave: Zingari Wanderer splash

What a wonderful shave.

Wanderer is one of my favorite scents in all of wet shaving. It is a beautiful scent.

Sego soap base is excellent.

Zingari post shave products are also best in the business. I am a big fan of the Zingari splash and balm.

I could use this software every day and be happy.
