Other than my father and grand father's shave gear, this is my most prized shaving possession.

One of my hobbies is studying the Eastern Front of WW2.  Below is pictured a soldier's shaving kit, most likely from a German soldier.  This was recovered near Kursk.  The Battle at Kursk assured that the Germans would lose the war.

What's inside the case? Is the razor there?

Its always interesting when you look at the more mundane artifacts from a given time period.  Here is evidence that even in the most challenging and horrifying circumstances a man still found the time to attend to his ablutions including a good old shave.  Who knows, maybe for those moments of concentration and focus on getting a decent shave, the soldier is able to distract themselves from the harshness of their reality.

The case is empty.  I imagine it would have contained the razor, brush and soap.  They did use double edge safety razors.

I read somewhere that Feather was founded by German POWs in Japan. Not sure if that's true.

There were German POWs in Japan during WWI. I don't know that they founded Feather though.
