Koi7/8 Bengall square point Max Sprecher restore straight razor, made in Sheffield, England. Custom clear cyan-green acrylic scales, toxic turtle-green reconditioned stone tapered wedge with brass/nickel/brass bullseye washers and nickel pins.

The grind appears 3/4 to 1/2 hollow and ground very thin to the edge. A solid hefty significant razor with nice balance. I’m not sure how to date this blade though there is nothing on the the non-show side of the tang such as “T.R.Cadman” which would of dated the razor back to 1906-1953 approximately. I’m guessing late 1800’s - 1906 due to the markings and hollow grind.

It’s a beautiful restore that has held up significantly considering how old the blade is. I think Max Sprecher makes some of the best scales out there. Great lines, well built, and really solid in the hand. Nothing floppy about this razor. The wedge sets it off and is signature of his designs.

Bengall are such underrated razors especially the older ones that don't have made in England engraved on the tang.. They were more known for their hollow(er) grinds as opposed to the wedge type W&B and other Sheffield razors although they did produce a few heavier grinds. Still I grade Bengall amongst the top Sheffield steel razor makers.
