The Gillette merger with Probak was announced on October 16, 1930. The writing on the underside of the plate also has a duller backing, but the outside of the cap and plate are shiny. The duller finish is not soap residue, this is a result of a special coating my the manufacturer. The Probak is a great razor, similar with a Goodwill type 1931 Gillette - the top cap has the rectangular recess holes and the baseplate has two spade-like posts. In addition, the cap has corner blade-alignment pins that nested into depressions in the guard. These razors generally provide a very gentle and comfortable shave. Mo bent or missing teeth in the open comb. No cracks in the handle, shiny and solid. The head and handle screw together smoothly, firmly, with good threading and proper fit. If you are looking for a gentle open comb razor to try, Probaks are fantastic. The razor has been cleaned, sanitized/Barbicide and is shave ready. Except a few scratches on the bottom plate, the razor is in perfect shape. Asking $50/OBO, CONUS, Paypal, shipped to your door.
