This is very disappointing. A deal’s a deal. I’ll remember this.

I agree, this is extremely disappointing if he’s gone back and raised the price on you. I would definitely report this to the Mods.

Part of the increase (20 euros/$22.77) was due to the Seller’s claim that it is “customary” for a buyer to pay the PayPal fee on DFS. This listing said nothing about payment method, and the Seller sent me his PayPal address without mentioning that I was on the hook for this fee. Have others experienced this? It has not been my experience, and I’ve bought some expensive razors on DFS and other shaving forums. The other part of the increase was due to the fact that the Seller listed the sale price as $450 dollars, U.S., but then asked for payment of 415 euros, claiming that PayPal has a “weird” exchange rate. (That amounted to an increase of $22.46, according to PayPal). Has anyone experienced this sort of thing?

I need a reality check on this deal. I mean the $45 really isn’t the part that bothers me so much. I went ahead and paid the additional amounts because I want this razor. But this was far from a smooth deal, and it was unlike all the many other deals I’ve experienced on DFS, B&B, and The Shave Nook.

If he wanted you to pay the fee it should have been priced as such in my opinion and not requested afterward. I also think there is an added fee for international transfers which got passed on to you or so it would seem.

I'm surprised the moderators are not weighing in on this.

I have sold quite a few items on the shaving forums, it has always been my opinion that PayPal fees are the cost of selling an item. Occasionally guys who know me well will pay F&F but I have never asked anyone to pay the fees. Put the cost of the fees in your asking price if you expect to recoup them. If you want to auction price a razor put it on EBay

I hope I’m not viewed by the moderators as out of line. I’m not here to complain. I still believe this is a well-established and trustworthy seller, and somehow things got scrambled. I paid what he asked for. I’m just hoping to get some perspective from the DFS community on whether I’m misinformed about the norms when doing transactions on the BST with sellers having a strong presence on this forum.

When I paid Euros or Pounds to any vendor in Europe, I always turn off currency exchange in Paypal.
Since, Paypal has 4% currency exchange fee, my credit cart has no fee. Many cards are like that.
