Out of curiosity, how does the post shave compare to Mystic Water?

Never once in my life have I used mystic water...

Is there a reason why you have never tried the soap?
In my humble opinion, it has, arguably, the best post-shave of any soap that I have tried, in the past nine years.

Honestly, and I’ve been at this a couple years now, no one has ever even mentioned this brand to me at all, nor has anyone even mentioned it in any top 5’s I’ve seen.

Have you tried grooming dept, Tallow and Steel, wholly Kaw bufala base, Talbot or Lisa’s?

I have tried all of the aforementioned soaps including just about every Grooming Dept base and B&M Excelsior and to me Mystic Water still has one of, if not the best post shave out there. That is not to say the other mentioned soaps are not exceptional because they are, it just impresses me that Mystic Water has basically stayed with the same formula and have some of the lowest prices on the market and IMHO have a product that is just as good as the others mentioned.

I think that Mystic Water is a little like Mikes Natural in that they don't get alot of press in the forums because they are two of the few that aren't coming out with new soap bases every 6 months(Yes, I'm exaggerating but honestly just by a little bit) or LE soaps that everyone is rushing to purchase and then review on the forums or use in SOTD posts. Just my two cents

Sweet. If I can track down a sample Ill try it out. Post shave is pretty high up there for me

Samples aren't always the best representation of a 'new' soap. I would suggest trying to get a larger sample, either via trade or another means.
If I were in the US, I would send you a large sample to try. Furthermore, if you want the best example of post-shave, the Lavender is probably the best one, by a slight margin, as it contains allantoin.

What happened to this thread? Haven't seen any activity since the end of May. Everyone ok?

Box is on its way to Pork

Ok, sorry for the late update. I received the box last Thursday afternoon and have been busy with work and family stuff all weekend.

I had about 90 minutes between when the box arrived and when my kid got home from school, so I smelled each sample and wrote down a list of the ones I'd like to use. This box is MASSIVE! Of the dozen or so I picked out, three really stood out to me scent-wise:

1. Lisa's Coconut Oud
2. Rock Rose Cypress Lime
3. Razor Master Ines

Then, there were the T+S scents, but more on that in a minute.

The first thing I noticed were scents that I have definitely smelled before. For example, both Long Rifle and Beehive "bay rums" smelled almost identical, and are almost identical to First Canadian's Bay Rum & Lime. The best I can figure is that they are all using the same fragrance oil as a predominant scent. It doesn't actually smell like real bay rum and I don't consider it a true bay rum scent. I like the smell though, whatever it is.

The other thing I noticed was that, across the board, more soaps smell more similar to one another than different. There were some small exceptions, like the three mentioned above. The one HUGE exception was Tallow + Steele which, like it or not, was totally different. Their scents were very complex and natural smelling. The T+S scents had way more depth than any of the others. It's really quite remarkable. The only one I own is Sicily, but it was nice to have them all there for comparison.
