Hate to let it go....but the box is on its way to Kehole

Hi DFS!

Sorry for the delay in submitting some write-ups. First of all my typical loading and lathering routine is not sample friendly and I’m usually a rushed morning shaver, so adjustments to my routine are difficult to perform. That said - I have started doing some work on this box, and wow, wait until you guys see this thing - it’s impressive.

Tallow and Steel Sicily

I wanted to start with a base I’m very familiar with to ensure that how I’m loading the sample is giving me proper finished results. My main fear is writing something about a soap that isn’t flattering when it’s only myself to blame. So this was my “canary in a coalmine” soap.

This v3 base from t&s is everything one could ask for in a soap base. Slick, dense lather that offers elite performance along with elite post shave. I have an easier time lathering this base than v2 for whatever reason. The scent on this one is citrus with herbs, namely rosemary to my nose. It’s light enough for the warm weather but works well in the colder months too. This is a very friendly scent that works well with many aftershaves and EDP’s.

Lisas Natural Herbal Creations - Immortelle Woods

I am very familiar with this base. I find it to be one of the best in all of the wetshaving game, so to speak. The performance, coupled with the post shave feel really only have a few peers IMO. While I have used this base, and own a few of the scents, this has given me the opportunity to sniff out the new scents and give them a try, which I really appreciate. For whatever reason, when I use her soaps that are largely comprised of fragrance oils, I am prone to getting a slight reaction that manifests by my face getting hot. I don't have any visible reaction, but with all the options out there I am able to move along without concern as she has quite a few that are EO only or frag/EO blends that work fine for me.

Lathering is very straight forward. This soap is quick and easy to load as it's on the soft side of mid firmness. This soap can, and needs to take ALOT of water to become the best possible version of itself. This also needs to be done slowly, or it can become airy or fluffy instead of incredibly dense. Although, this is true of any soap and isn't unique to Lisas.

Performance is top tier. Excellent dense and slick lather that would fall into the low structure category. Plenty of primary and secondary slickness here.

Post shave puts this soap in exclusive company IMO. Aftershave is an option ONLY. Not needed one bit.

Scent is where I find this, and most of the newer scents fall short. Whereas the original releases were strongly scented and packed a punch - these newer scents seem much weaker, even lightly scented in comparison. This scent to my nose was nothing amazing, but it's possible my apathy could be partially because I found the scent level to be far too weak. I'm still not sure and will try a couple other new scents to confirm or edit my opinion on this.

Out of curiosity, how does the post shave compare to Mystic Water?

Is there a reason why you have never tried the soap?
In my humble opinion, it has, arguably, the best post-shave of any soap that I have tried, in the past nine years.

Honestly, and I’ve been at this a couple years now, no one has ever even mentioned this brand to me at all, nor has anyone even mentioned it in any top 5’s I’ve seen.

Have you tried grooming dept, Tallow and Steel, wholly Kaw bufala base, Talbot or Lisa’s?

Oh, I see.
Yes. I have tried all of those soaps you have mentioned, except for Talbot and Lisa's.

Well, if you are happy with the soaps that you have, then there is no need to try it. I was mainly curious about Lisa's soap as I haven't tried it, yet, and it is readily available, whereas Grooming Dept and Talbot are not.
Thanks, again. Shy
