Forget everything you know about the Futur and other clones, this is very mild but capable razor, and a cuckoo value at its asking.

I started the shave on my beard at the 5 setting (BIC blade) and left it there for first WTG pass. It was comfortable and effective, but immediately noticeable was the more limited angle of effective tack vis a vis the Futur. I tend not to notice what I'm doing in terms of pressure or how to describe the touch, but I'm sure I was applying some pressure here, more than I would with the Future. Second pass XTG/ATG I upped to 6.5 and the razor performed well, no chatter going ATG on the chin or moustache are, very pleasant and reasonably efficient, though honestly nothing to write home about

For the head shave I cranked it up to 8. Still not what would I would describe as an aggressive shave at all but I liked it best at this setting, a bit easier finding optimum angle and still no chatter ATG. Pick ups I did best I could with this razor. Feeling my head now I would say it was less than a BBS result. Maybe a blade change or shim might get me there we'll see.

Looking at the photo of the head on the 8 setting it looks to me like even at this setting the razor has negative exposure explaining its more limited angles despite the considerable gap.

I had no issues with handling, I was more careful keeping my hands dry but it was not a problem at all (neither is my Futur, the Q-Shave is more a problem). If the alignment isn't perfect I didn't notice and issues in shaving and the magnetic cap did its job perfectly well.

Next shave I'll use a Kai blade to add a tad more exposure and just keep the razor at max.

Great review. I really like the idea of the magnetic head. Holds the blade in place so well during assembly. Very similar to my own experience. Priced like a novelty, but holds its own as a good performing mild adjustable razor. Who knows about longevity, but at that price I can't be disappointed if it gives a year or more good performance.

The magnetic cap addresses the biggest durability issue with the orginal and clones which is plating wear caused by the press fit cap. In this implementation it's a very smart design.

It won't add "exposure" per se. The Kai blades are purportedly a tad wider laterally than other blades which of course only widens the swath taken.

Nope, That's not my understanding. There are other tables confirming Kai with the greatest edge to edge width.

[Image: 0e29fa385bbc80883213b38a4cd5b67a.jpg]Width (W) and other periphery dimensions, measured with a digital caliper having a resolution of 0.01 mm. Width correlates with exposure of the cutting edges in a razor, affecting performance.

I know who you are quoting Jim and I will bow out as I put zero stock in him.

I don't think he was the only source, but if I can't find another ill put batteries in my calipers.

Put a battery in my calipers and measured a few blades I had on hand, Nacet, Feather, BIC, Kai, and some vintage Star blades . Kai were widest of the bunch. I could do more but I think it's been done.

Just because you don’t trust somebody doesn’t mean the information is necessarily wrong.

I read that the ISO standard for edge to edge width provides for a variance of around .30mm and somebody has to be at either end of that. It was quicker for me to put batteries in my calipers than to search out sources but my recollection is that these measurements have been done more than once.
