For you guys using the much-touted Ethos SFS, does it burn or sting? Or is that the point?

I would love to try the Clean SFS, but the first ingredient listed is cane sugar alcohol, which I believe is ethyl alcohol. I know isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) is a not what I want to put on my face, especially having rosacea. Maybe Dragonsbeard can chime in as well, as he is very much the genius here!

If you have open cuts it will sting.

THAT stated, it is THE SOLE product used EVERY shave.

Frank does a custom unscented blend stuffed with extra EOS and other skin healing ingredients poured into elegant 4oz frosted spray bottles. About ready to order a half dozen more. Nothing else even remotely close.

Stings if you have some wounds, but nothing out there will make your skin feel better post shave. Especially when used consecutively.

The first skin food splash I got was the Dragonsbeard release so I was really getting to try the aftershave formula with lots of scent goodies so to speak. I really enjoyed how it made the skin feel and how nicely it applied and would agree with both of the above posts. You'll get some "feel" if you are splashing it on a nicked spot or area with razor burn. It's like a flash of heat but it really works into the skin to leave the skin feeling clean and fresh. I find Frank's formula on par with SV which are my favorite aftershaves and have these scents in the aftershave form: Fresco, Lost Souls, Succes, Tonka Bean. They may be pricier but if you're thinking about the clean scent, I would suggest to pull the trigger MaineYooper
cheers

You can also get a witch hazel based skipping alcohol to match with the Tibu.

Ramsay. For me, nothing works better than the original ETHOS alcohol based skin food (odd considering have damaged and sensitive skin)

I own several fragrances of ETHOS SFS, and my experience is similar with all of them.  I always feel some heat - even without a wound - but the heat is mild and transient, and nothing out there makes my skin feel better post shave.  I always assumed that the burn was due to the hyaluronic acid, but maybe it is sugar cane alcohol or some other set of ingredients.  In any case, I just smile and tell myself that the SFS burn as the pathway to skin Nirvana.  Then I walk through the mild heat for a few seconds and come out on the other side with sublime skin.

Hopefully your skin is not that different.  I know this is an old thread Eric, but I just stumbled across it and hope the info is useful to you.

Sorry for going OT.

If you want a skin food, that doesn't sting and won't leave you feeling oily afterwards, I can highly recommend GFT Trumpers Skinfood.

I own all 5 different versions of it twice - that's how much I love it.

5 x 500 ml

5 x 200 ml

I'm a fan.
