Razor: Gillette New LC
Blade: Wizamet (?)
Brush: Stuart/Timberwolf
Soap: Sir Henry's Quartet dominicr
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Anthony's Authentic Barber Shoppe Bay Rum
Fragrance: Guerlain Vetiver

Went with another sample of Sir Henry's this morning. This time Quartet which from the website is described as:

"An original barbershop scent.
Like the harmonizing vocals of a barbershop quartet hitting different notes, the players in Quartet harmonize to bring a lovely melody of scent notes to your senses. Rosemary & lavender take the Lead and carry the melody with a bright, nostril opening aroma. Then the Tenor chimes in with the citrusy middle, backed up by the vanilla Bass, and the powdery musk plays the part of Baritone, wrapping up the chords to take you through the day."

I don't ever get individual notes like some do that have more distinguishing noses. I either like something or I don't and this definitely fits the LIKE category. I haveto agree with another poster that asked why Sir Henry's doesn't get more air time on DFS. If I wasn't ladden down with soaps I would be adding more right now. Reality is I've narrowed down to 50ish from 130ish and don't want to add more until a bigger dent is in the pile other than the DFS Collaboration coming out. GREAT job Dominic !

I used the Gillette New LongComb on a CG's handle and got an amazing shave. I will say that while doing my ATG pass on my neck I had a few swipes that felt rough and as looked at the razor I see the head had spun free and was loose as can be. Not sure how that happened and averted disaster but I'm a little raw feeling in that neck area. May add a little LNHC balm.

Anthony's is an aftershave from my brother still living where I grew up in PA bought from and sent me from his barber which is a 3rd or 4th generation barber in his family. I NEED to get a few more bottles of this if we can coax him to make some more. That's all I got DFS, Have a fun filled day !!

Razor: Rockwell 6s Plate 5
Blade: Wizamet (?)
Brush: Graydog Quilt Twin
Soap: Sir Henry's Casino Royale
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Nivea Deep
Fragrance: Penhaligon's Lothair

So as a preface to the shave today. Yesterday's mishap with the razor head coming loose left me with more rawness than I realized. At mid day I was feeling it and decided to try the Sir Henry's Balm sample sent in the El Jefe scent. The scent wasn't a winner for me and I'm not a balm guy at all. That said I like one on the rare occasion when I need it like yesterday. When 1st applied I felt like there was no way this was going to absorb and dry down the way I like but was VERY pleasantly surprised at the absorption and relief I felt from it. Out of the scents I got: Black Tie Affair, full tub and samples of El Jefe, Casino Royale, Black and Tan and Quartet. My favorites were the Quartet but 3rd pass had a little tingling like a reaction and I don't want to chance it, Black and Tan and Casino Royale. I can see adding the latter 2 down the road. Thanks again dominicr at Sir Henry's. If you haven't tried his products yet or have been on the fence, I recommend you give them a try.

Shave today was only a 2 pass and touch up as I wanted a shave but wanted the face to heal some too. The lather and shave were just amazing. No irritation but wasn't going to push a 3rd pass so as much as I wanted to keep going, I wrapped it up with the Nivea and Penhaligon's Lothair. Ready for a long work day and have a couple packages coming in today. A back up Bigelow Parking Travel razor and the return of my Baby, the Yates razor setups. Can't wait for a nice 3 pass tomorrow. Have a great day DFS !!

dominicr which style bottle is currently used for the aftershaves, or is it dependent on the scent that is ordered? I noticed in the above photo, 2 different type of bottles, with one style offering two different caps. Thank you.

We're actually migrating towards the plastic bottle with an orifice restrictor like the Island Estate bottle on the right. We had supply issues with packaging during the height of Covid so the cap on the left (Quartet) was a temporary solution. The glass bottle in the middle (El Jefe) is eventually going to be replaced completely as bottles/labeling depletes.

Lol. I have the Sandalwood on my radar. The Lavender part scares me, as I went from disliking the scent of lavender to really hating it. But I will give it a try soon enough.

Might be my Xmas gift to myself.

The lavender in the Sandalwood is less prevalent than the LVS. Don't forget, 30 day satisfaction guarantee!

Thanks, dominicr. I prefer the look on the Island Estate bottle, it stands out from the ones that are popular among the majority of makers.
