Ok, Eric MaineYooper talked me into it... I'm going to try to play along this SEptember . I now have a Hydromagic Injector (type I?) en route. Thanks eRic and eBay.

Let me ask the masses...

What's the Injector that supposedly is the same (at least shave wise) as the Hydromagic, but without the lever thingy? Is it the J?

Yes, I believe it is the Type J. It has a long and short handle length, not like the Type I, but more slender.

According to the often referenced SchickTech source, there were I, J, and K Hydro-Magics.  The companion SchickYear source indicates they were made from 1954 through 1968.  As a starting point, you might look at I, J, and K models.

EDIT:  I did not see Eric's post before making my own.  I have an I1 (not hydro-magic) and an I2 (hydro-magic):

I only skimmed it for tonight, but that looks like a great link Eric.  I have read several of his Type> Schick for Dummies threads at B&B, where he goes by BBS-1.  They are very informative posts.
